I picked up the PS4 disc a while back. It's definitely a cool game for both single player and coop.

I hope it isn't locked to Steam DRM.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

It will be. There is no hope and you might as well completely give up on everything forever.

It's definitely fun with someone else who knows what they're doing but I think it's a little too tough to work as a pick-up-and-play co-op game and if I had to suggest a change for this port it'd be to add explicit difficulty settings for co-op.

Or at the very least, continues, whether as an unlock as you play or just there from the get go

The fact that game overs come so quick in a multiplayer setting with people who don't know the game as well really turned some friends of mine off to wanting to replay it after a few attempts, cool as they thought it was.

(shrugs) My local gaming group gave me a positive coop experience. Then again, in the past the SNES game has gotten play time as well so everyone was familiar with the style.

joy2key doesnt fix it either. With joy2key on it makes the game recognize a single input as both up and down, lol

Love this game. Never played this till I got the PS4 disc. The type of game you play over and over. I actually thought that the old arcade game Cabal was this. Obviously not. So that's cool more people will get to play this.

great remake, but it's a lot harder than original(probably becouse you can see the whole screen), easy is like normal now, normal and hard are harder too due to extra levels that are not present on easy. dog character is very forgiving to play though, but it's not as fun, since you can't stay in place to keep the chain going.

Yeah, I have beaten the original. But get really frustrated with this one, and haven't gotten too far on it.

Does it have new stages?

Yeah it has an Underground stage on Normal (spooky-themed) and an Airship stage on the Hard mode. Keep in mind I 1cc'd the game with Clint but what I can tell you is that the game is actually easier in places compared to the original, it's just the final boss fight that comes to mind where you no longer can safely hide in a corner and cheese him.

I was annoyed to find out that I can't play Desolation Canyon on normal (or hard) mode... I played (still play) the original and the bosses have different patterns for each difficulty level, so while I like having the new stages, I wish there was a way to play the old ones at each difficulty.

Imagine, firing up the game for the first time, going right into Normal mode like I usually would, beating Carson City, and WhereTF is Desolation Canyon???
