Problems with nes and the Sony Pvm 2130qm

Post by Bartosa »

Dear shmups people !

I got a problem lately with my nes and my Sony 2130p qm pvm also known as the cube i Think.
It used to work great but all of a sudden i got this really weird after image on text especially but also on sprites. Its almost like everything got this faint double image and it makes everything really look bad. It only has this issue on the nes and the nes is connected to compesite.the nes doesnt have this issue on my other Pvm wich is a 14 inch. The screen is perfectly clear there. I also used 3 different cables but the problem remains with all.. it feels like its a setting on the tv itself. I ll try to post some pictures and see or i can show u the problem. The problem isnt there on the svhs n64 or anything that used Rgb the screen is perfect on the snes and psx. If i turn down the sharpness the afterimage seems to go away a bit but the screen looks even worse.

It did it before i actually did anything with the monitor. I did open it up and tried to correct it with the settings inside the monitor to no avail. If only i knew what causes this. I do not think it's a v hold or a focus issue cause the Rgb output is super sharp and near flawless.

Edit : i tried using an Ntsc nes and a pal nes and it gives both the same after image. I can try to hook up other systems to to the compesite tommorow and see or it does he same thing. It gives the problem on both the compesite(Bnc) and on the av Scart with an adapter. I'm really curious what it could be...

Most likely interference on composite... looks like dot crawl? Especially on high contrast areas, this is kind of classic of composite signals if so. It's perfectly possible one set is better at dealing with this than another.

i) Try turning on/adjusting comb filter in the service menu of your pvm?
ii) Try a different cable?
iii) Don't use composite :P

That is a signal reflection. Check your grounding!
