Well I've finally done it. Actually, I had to clear this fucking game 3 times before I could get a useable replay. First time I accidentally overwrote my replay when I was trying to output the video...you have no idea how mad I was. Second time my replay desynced early on during playback...last time I use shmupmame probably ever.

I switched over to the newest version of MAME and the 3rd time was the charm and now I have an actual replay. At least I proved to myself that clearing it was not a fluke. This time I only died once in 2-6, which is also the farthest I've ever gotten without dying.

Unfortunately my highest score was during the first time I cleared it (2.58M), so my replay is actually not as good of a score, but it's still decent 2.54M or so. It's too bad you get barely any points for having extra lives at the end, a feel like that should be a much bigger bonus.

Ok here we go:

pegboy - 2,543,800 - Ki84 - ALL - MAME

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=599ubitYGq4

Glad this is finally done, I'm actually not sure what I will move onto but Strikers Plus or 1999 are possibilities. Just from casual play I feel like Strikers Plus is harder than II (at least the first loop) but maybe that's just because I've played hundreds of credits of II.

Whee. Ruined a lot by dying twice in the last stage but eh.

Plasmo, I think you missed my last score, or is there a reason it wasn't updated?

Erppo - Nice work, that's a damn good score!

Thanks. I'll likely record a replay too but I'll give it a couple more tries first. Could easily beat the score by dying less and I feel like I'm getting pretty consistent at everything.

Putting this here to remind myself to come back to this game, but I wanna play some other stuff first.

BTW Erppo is listed twice on the scoreboard.

Announcement!

This topic now exists for over 11 years and is one of the few original topics after the forum relaunch in 2005 that has never changed its owner.

In 2009 I got rid of the harsh score cap. Now in 2016 I have decided to split score tables for the individual ships.

This topic keeps getting better but what it really needs now are your scores! It can't be that noone in all the 11 years has posted a score for the Focke-Wolf Ta152! Please appreciate the big change in the opening post by posting your Focke-Wolf scores! :D

Keep on shootin'.

FIRST!!!11!1111!

Couldn't resist, I don't remember having ever played Focke-Wolf before so this might be my first credit with it. I want to come back to this game later but for now I'm still trying to 1-ALL the first Strikers 1945.

Shepardus - 394,700 - Focke-Wolf Ta152 - 1-4 - MAME

Edit: stuminator and Tar-Palantir also have Focke-Wolf scores posted earlier in the thread.

Thanks for the score! :D

Oh yeah... that reminds me of how some score might be missing from the opening post because only the highest score of a person was kept without regards to the ship. I have only arranged the scores from that post without checking all the pages again. Shouldn't matter that much I guess.

Just in time to celebrate, I finally managed to record my old run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ-Us8WzyqE (Which I probably won't end up improving any time soon.)

I like that you split plane scores up, now it's a real reason to try the others.

You have just beaten one of the longest standing records of this forum! The old highscore dates back to 2005 and if I remember correctly, it was achieved some years earlier even during the times of the old shmups forum.

Congrats!

This highscore topic is also one of the very few that is still active from 2005.

This is an absolute stunning achievement! Tbh it destroys all my motivation to continue playing this game. No hope I will ever beat this score. Seriously insane.

Do you have any further goals with this game?

Thanks Plasmo, you sure can beat my score with some spare time.
I don't intend to play anything else "seriously" (unless Garegga somehow gets a PC port) so I think I'll keep practicing this game, even when progress will be pretty slow now.

Weird run, first time reaching 2-5 I get midway through 2-6, could possibly have gotten further if I hadn't panic bombed several times along the way.
