HDM-14E5U no image

Post by mikejmoffitt »

I got an HDM-14E5U for a decent deal. When I got it, it worked via Component video more or less fine. After about twenty minutes of use, the screen flickered slightly (especially with green) and then the screen went black.

* The power light is still on.
* The overload light is not on
* Buttons still light up, responding to presses.
* When I shut the monitor off, I see a brief full-screen white flash (the raster is clearly working; HV and deflection are fine)

Has anyone seen this? How about similar experiences with the HDM's BVM cousin, the BVM-14F5U?

Bump - does anyone have a BVM-14F1U or another similar monitor that has experienced this?

Goddamnit, if I yank the power cord, I see a distorted flash of a fully correct image:

That's a screencap from a 240fps video of me unplugging it while it's powered on.

So, the input card, deflection, and menu are all working fine. Maybe it really is the power supply?

Could be a bad video amp. The following caps on the 20F1U video amp are known to fail over time. Not sure if the HDM has the same module though so no idea if this helps. (And yes, some of these caps are surface mount.)
