NTSC consoles with 240V support?
I've been looking into getting consoles from Japan and the US and I've been wondering. What NTSC consoles have universal power supplies, or at least support 240 volts?
To my knowledge the following consoles can be used anywhere without a step converter.
PS3
PS4
GameCube.
Are there any others?

One thing that is often overlooked by "external brick" haters is that those devices (like the Xbox 360) can be used in different parts of the world simply by using a "domestic brick".

The old Cubenator is multi voltage? That is news to me. I have a NTSC/U version here.

Most internal power supplies support 100-240V, so that's actually a point against external bricks. External bricks may require different bricks for different regions, while internal power supplies tend to work anywhere.HydrogLox wrote:One thing that is often overlooked by "external brick" haters is that those devices (like the Xbox 360) can be used in different parts of the world simply by using a "domestic brick".

Re: NTSC consoles with 240V support?
Sega hasn't made a console in nearly two decades, they aren't exactly representative of modern consoles, and most popular consoles with internal power supplies are modern ones.

It isn't, but my original statement was that most internal power supplies did 100-240, and since most popular consoles that have internal power supplies are modern consoles, that's where my "most " came from.

My Dreamcast is multi-voltage, I'll check on the range.

This is true of all consoles with an external power supply.

Can't make a blanket statement like that - for example:neorichieb1971 wrote:PS2 Slim - Yes (8 cable)
NTSC/U SCPH-79001 - external supply SCPH-79100 100-240V~1.2A 50/60Hz to 8.5V - 4.5A
NTSC/U SCPH-90001 CB - internal supply 120V 60Hz 35W.
NTSC/J SCPH-90000 - internal supply 100V 50/60Hz 35W.

It has been a while since I owned a 90k PS2 but I'm pretty sure that the internal PSU is 100-240V.HydrogLox wrote:Can't make a blanket statement like that - for example:neorichieb1971 wrote:PS2 Slim - Yes (8 cable)

Can't say what's on the inside, had no cause to open them up yet - I just quoted what it says on the outside label.

Re: NTSC consoles with 240V support?
I'm sorry if I misquoted something as that could have had some devastating feedback potential.
But yeah, if buying an NTSC ps2 always get the person selling it to read the voltage label on the back. My guess is that 90%+ of the PS2 slims are 100% worldwide compatible.

Re: NTSC consoles with 240V support?
The label might be incorrect. It is certain that SCPH-90000 and SCPH-90001 do not mention on the body of the console whether they accept 240V.
