Home made 4:3 mask for BVM-24

Post by zoopster »

Hi

I'm looking at creating a 4:3 black cardboard mask for the widescreen Sony BVM-24 with a 16:9 setup. Before I do all the measuring up I wondered if anybody had guidance on what the 4:3 measurements should be or if they'd already created a template.

Thanks
John

Lol this is sort of hilarious but at the same time very understandable. I always find it a bit odd watching 4:3 content on widescreen monitors. XD

Good job taking this on. Hope this turns out nicely.

I see where he is going..since that monitor according to Fondork has perfect geometry at 4:3 and seeing those black bars might be distracting.

Right and I've also got a small video error across the the 480i image which is only really noticeable in the screen border. The black cardboard is on order so I'll post a photo once I've completed the job!

They actually made a swappable frame. Might be harder to find than Mickey mantle high fiving babe Ruth though

Luckily my A20F1 came with both the 16:9 and 4:3 masks included.

The 24 inch BVM was a widescreen monitor, so there was no bezel for 4:3. That's why he wants to make a mask, to cover up the black bars and visual noise on the sides of the screen.

I would recommend getting a vinyl decal made at your local graphics and sign company. You could even overlay it with something cool like flying toasters or mega man 2 art.

Here's your dimensions for your outer frame
