Re: Forcing PS2 Games to 480P
I've been trying all night to get games running at 480p by using ulaunchelf with the xploder elf file. Zero luck so far, I can never get a game to load after the resolution has been chosen and the start button is pressed.
Anyone else had this issue?
Any other suggestions?
Cheers fellas.

Just use GSM?BubbaMc wrote:I've been trying all night to get games running at 480p by using ulaunchelf with the xploder elf file. Zero luck so far, I can never get a game to load after the resolution has been chosen and the start button is pressed.

Also tried GSM, it kept hanging once loaded and it wouldn't respond to my controller.ZellSF wrote:Just use GSM?BubbaMc wrote:I've been trying all night to get games running at 480p by using ulaunchelf with the xploder elf file. You are using the latest version and running it from memory card and not USB right?
If you're using a wireless controller, try a wired one.

Actually I think I was running it from USB. I'll copy it to the memory card and try again.

If you still have trouble, try using a different controller even if you're using a wired controller; I only have wired official Sony controllers but one of them wouldn't work with GSM for whatever reason.

Also, Xploder is very picky about the controller. The stupid program will simply not load with many 3rd party ones.

Re: Forcing PS2 Games to 480P
I copied both the xploder and gsm elf to the memory card, but still no go.
Also I'm having a strange problem with ulaunchelf - the control input is buggy so I have to make file selections very quickly or it goes straight back to the root directory, almost as if the x button is held down. I'll try the mcboot memory card on another modded PS2 and see how I go.

Uh, from what you're writing yourself (and what me and antron said) isn't the obvious next troubleshooting step to try a different controller?BubbaMc wrote:I copied both the xploder and gsm elf to the memory card, but still no go.

Xploder will hang at a black screen (that's progressive lol!) until it detects a controller it likes in port 1. As soon as it does it will load, you can press start, and then swap back in your preferred controller.

Hi guys,
Changing the controller allowed GSM to work, however the horizontal size of the picture isn't wide enough, even with my monitors H size control maxxed out.
Thanks for the help!

Re: Forcing PS2 Games to 480P
Some games have reduced width depending on the frame buffer used. See the following link for more info: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f291/frame- ... ty-111435/
If you feed the signal into a scaler like with H and V adjustments (like the DVDO Edge or Optoma HD3000) you can stretch the image into proper proportion.

Re: Forcing PS2 Games to 480P
sorry for bringing this post up but I would like to know how I can force mcfreeboot dashboard to launch in 480i instead of 480p?
I am currently using a ps2>component>iscan pro>extron emotia>15khz CRT to downconvert to 240p. the problem is that I currently have to navigate blind through the mcfreeboot dashboard since the 480p is not being accepted by the iscan pro. as soon as I load open ps2 loader(changed the monitor output to 480i in its menu) for example the signal does kick in again .

Free Mcboot starts into a modified PS2 OSD that's either 480i or 576i depending on console region.svensonson wrote:sorry for bringing this post up but I would like to know how I can force mcfreeboot dashboard to launch in 480i instead of 480p?

Open PS2 loader on the other hand can be set to output 480i or 480p.
Are you sure the problem isn't that one of your devices doesn't accept 480i or 576i?

Re: Forcing PS2 Games to 480P
Oh and the solution to forcing resolution for PS2 OSD is:
1: Make your PS2 autoboot ulaunchelf
2: Make ulaunchelf autoboot an old version of GSM (0.23 I think)
3: Make GSM autoexit back to OSD
It should work, but you should map all of that to a separate startup button since that way will probably interfere with games (loading an outdated GSM version).
I really don't imagine you want to be doing this, so I have to ask, why do you feel the need to? What do you need the OSD for that can't be done in any other way?
