Hi guys - quick question.
My GameCube and Wii are set with this signal path:
Consoles output via component cables to Zektor component switch - then to a Crescendo RTC 2200 component to VGA transcoder which connects to an NEC XV29+ CRT monitor.
I'm looking to insert a device somewhere in that signal chain that will give me a really high quality sharpness control that has the least susceptibility to ringing possible. It doesn't matter if the device has other functions, I'll just use the sharpness settings. I tried a DVDO VP50pro but I didn't like what the scaling engine did to the image in general - I'd like to be able to adjust the sharpness without affecting the image in any other way. Perhaps an analogue device will fare better in my case?
I understand that all sharpening will cause ringing if applied too heavily (I can't stand any amount of ringing), but I'll use it very sparingly, just to give a touch more clarity. Does anyone know of such a device? I'm looking for the highest quality option and price isn't really an issue.
[EDIT]: it turns out that I'd already been given the answer to this by Fudoh; I had a spare Extron 201rxi hanging around that does the job perfectly. By introducing it into the signal chain I have perfect fine control over the sharpness without altering any other facets of the image!
If you're reading, thanks Fudoh :)
