It's the Saturn port that got an improved JP release correcting some of the US/EU issues.
On the PS1 it's actually the opposite, the JP is the lesser release lacking the updated scaled/redrawn sprites of the US/EU.

Ah right, Descent 1 got ported to the PS1 in the form of Descent Maximum, which features generally smaller (but still fully 3D capable) levels due to console restrictions. I'm not sure how you'd play a game like Descent with a joystick though, back in the Descent multiplayer days people would outright ban others who used mouse aiming because of how ridiculously accurate they were compared to the rest playing on keyboards and joysticks.

Liar. I've known you only from latexmachomen.com and pantysniffers.org forums.

Descent got ported to the PS1 as Descent. Descent Maximum on PS1 is a different game. I'm not sure if it's based at all on Descent 2.

IIRC, wasn't that the PS1 version of Final DOOM? I know the US/EU versions corrected at least the Super Shotgun's sprites, while the JP one's are still all downscaled and pathetic-looking.

That Suburbs crash bug I mentioned, for the curious.

I should point out that the Saturn version of Doom being vastly improved is pretty much a rumor. It's slightly better running, sure, but it's still terrible.

Yeah the Saturn port is terrible anyway. Yuck.

@BIL, not sure I think things are kind of mixed up in the wiki, but I've read elsewere it's not just the shotgun and yes that was about the ultimate+II port, not Final.
When I have some time to kill one of these days I'll compare both regions directly to be sure.
Anyway slight graphics differences apart it's the same game.
And I still play that port on a crt from time to time, still fucking love it despite the missing levels and spanky controls.
Dunno but even playing TC doesn't feel the same, guess it's really nostalgia in my case.

I have the Japanese Doom on PS1 and don't notice any differences from the USA one and haven't been able to find anywhere online claiming they are different.

Went through Powerslave... good game but it can be a bitch on some of the platforming stages late into the game. I was going for all the transmitter parts also though.

Moved onto to Quake.... enjoy it quite a bit. Very moody and a more careful/slower paced than doom but so far I've been enjoying it quite a bit. Seemed a lot tougher than Doom at 1st but I've acclimated.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
