METAFIVE - META
Enough people in this group to make one assume it will be good. And unlike a lot of supergroups this one actually works. Don't mind the fact that Towa Tei isn't actually in the video I'm linking, but I find it funny the way that he's represented. Pretty melodic album, but this is my favorite from it.

Death - Individual Thought Patterns

This lineup was just incredible. Chuck Schuldiner is a great writer and guitar player, and his vocals fit the music very well. Steve Digiorgio is just a monster on bass, and the tracks that feature him playing a fretless really grab my attention. It really adds a lot of flavor to things hearing him slide around going nuts. Gene Hoglan is hands down my all-time favorite drummer. He's got amazing technical abilities, but more than anything he's always perfectly in time and just a powerhouse. Then to top it all off you have guest guitar solos by none other than Andy LaRocque himself. From the first note he hits on the album, if you're a King Diamond fan you instantly know who it is. His fretwork definitely does not disappoint, in fact it could be some of his best playing.

If you enjoy any sort of extreme metal music it deserves at least a listen. I consider it to be an absolute masterpiece in the world of progressive technical death metal (what a mouthful that subgenre is lol)

New Planes Mistaken For Stars - Prey. Awesomeness. Rare for a band to take a ten year break 8n recording and come back as fine as this.

Last Wovenhand - Star Treatment. Drone, shoegaze, rock, just a wonderful amalgamation of everything I like about guitars, with vocals that sound lime the end of the world, when you can hear them.

Interesting stuff, it's 80's J-Pop with a vaporwave/funk feel.

After Bolt-Thrower disbanded following the death of their drummer Karl and ex-BT drummer Andy and a couple of others formed Memoriam.
I think it sounds promising:

I hope to see them in 2017 all being well.

Love the artwork too.

Dark Ambient goodness by Dallas Campbell. Too bad it's an EP, full album of this would be amazing.

Thats not a bad cover of "Shout", actually. Lacks the dark vibe of the original but its very well done.
Listening to some of the original pop of that time, it occurs to me that, back in the day, either I was too quick to dismiss it all as throw away trash, or todays pop is so fucking vacuous that it makes songs like the original "Shout" seem superb.
For example, I recently re-listened to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99svrFj-G_g and was blown away. Crissie's vocals are a show stopper and the song is well crafted and very catchy.
Again, on release, this was just another pop song :?

Zen, if you would like to listen to some cool 80's pop, give a listen to both of Dana Jean Phoenix's albums (she has a Bandcamp page).
I don't know if you are into Japanese music, but the group Satellite Young delivers some amazing 80's J-Pop. They also have a Bandcamp page.

Been in a Starscream/Infinity Shred coma for the last week.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.
