It's a combination of both, it seems, as the 4-year old Swiss 0.3 runs perfectly fine from this adapter.

I asked over on GC-Forever, but I figure I might as well ask here too since there's probably more CRT users around.

What's the correct aspect ratio for the LL version when playing on a 4:3 CRT? Is it the default 11:10? Does it differ between Gameboy games and GBA games?
I figure 1:1 was added for digital displays to correct the aspect ratio with an external scaler or the TV, but not sure between 9:8 and 11:10 on a CRT that's already "stretching" things some.

Also, all the options look good to me on an analog display, can someone explain that to me? I would have thought even on a CRT that I'd see uneven text width and stuff like that; is the difference just really subtle or is that not a potential problem with CRTs?

EDIT: Extrems told me 11:10 was correct, though I'm still curious about 9:8's purpose and me not noticing the horizontal scaling.

Gba's screen is 3:2 = 9:6
4:3 = 8:6

9:6 ÷ 8:6 = 9:8

If 11:10 is correct, I still don't understand the purpose of 9:8 though. What will that give you? Proper aspect ratio on an LCD?

Doesnt the GBA uses the same pixel aspect ratio as TVs (square pixels)? If so, the aspect ratio of the respective displays is irrelevant, and no correction is required. Well, actually, the display aspect ratio is irrelevant in all cases, only the pixel aspect ratio should be corrected for, and any mismatch in display aspect ratio is taken care of by letterboxing and/or pillarboxing.

Sorry for the bump, I just wanted to echo some of the earlier posts on ULL/S-video and note that my PVM 20L5 will sort of work with S-Video in ULL mode, but not very well.

The GBA video signal first displays in black and white, but if I switch to another input on the PVM and then switch back, it will be in color, but the colors (but not the luma) will have rolling distortion, sort of like a really bad composite signal or an old analog broadcast with poor reception.

LL mode works fine.

Here's hoping cheap 3rd party component cables arrive soon, as I really don't want to go to the hassle of importing a PAL Gamecube for RGB and then have to worry about desyching.
