Net Yaroze compatibility / PAL and NTSC playback

Post by Shozuki »

Quick question.

I want a black PS1, and it seems Yaroze is the only option...

I just want to know does it matter if I buy a PAL or NTSC Yaroze? I only play NTSC games and want to ensure best playback.

Reason I ask, because I think I've heard in the past if you play an NTSC game on a PAL system or vice versa there's a very slight speed difference. Is this true? I understand it's not perceptible, however my OCD would eat me alive just knowing that...

Thanks

It is true

It can be perceptible in some games, for example the NTSC Dance Dance Revolution games desync on a PAL console. Last year, someone released a small board with a programmable oscillator on it that can fix that problem once and for all - it'll switch to the correct frequency for PAL or NTSC depending on the current video mode.

Cool, so I'll just stick to using NTSC consoles then.

So I assume then I should get an NTSC Yaroze.

Does the speed difference relate to all consoles or just Playstation family?

Thanks

It relates to all consoles. Ntsc consoles run at 60 HZ. pal consoles Run at 50 HZ and the video is slower because of it.

you will notice. I finally got an old Australian snes i bought years ago as a curiousity, working, and i found Cybernator to be all but unplayable at 50 hz. it just runs way too slow. For something like an RPG, you probably wouldnt notice much. for everything else, you will.
