Ginga Force [X360/PS4/PC]

Thanks to ratikal for running the previous hi-score thread.

Ginga Force is Qute corporation's second STG for the Xbox 360. Each stage has it's own gimmick that changes things up and enemy types are rarely shared between stages. Boss fights have many destroyable parts and phases, which is a significant change compared to previous games by Qute/M-KAI. While Story mode allows you to customize your ship, Score Attack forces you to choose from three unique ships with different weapons and special ability.

Ginga Force's scoring system revolves around scoring items called 'CR' that spawn when you cancel bullets or kill enemies. The value of CR items ranges from Bronze to Platinum. Larger enemies drop higher levels of CR by default. The level of an item spawning depends on what CR items are already on screen: if there are lots of bronze items, you'll spawn silver CR upon cancelling bullets. If there are only some of a level of CR it will keep spawning that level, etc.

Instead of the usual arcade shooter formula each stage is long and you are forced to play them individually. This thread is for tracking each players total combined scores in Score Attack mode.

Very nice score! congrats on taking all the hard scoreboards once more.

I've been meaning to come back to the game too. It's nice since just playing a single stage regularly can get you improvements.

4.4mil improvement seems really big at that level. congrats!

Lets hope that this and Natsuki Chronicle end up getting a Steam release. Looking at the dead online leaderboards is always a bit depressing :< It's strange how few japanese players were into hard score attack (maybe because of the work to unlock it?). Personally it's my favorite M-KAI game.

Thanks a lot man :) I discovered some new tricks that enables you to link the CR chain between certain waves. The way that you can link the CR chain varies depending on the type of wave but the main ideas are the same. For example, when you fight the 6 larger enemies (that can drop platinum CR) right before the second orbital elevator on Chapter 7, you can link the CR chain with the next wave if you kill them all at the same time immediately after they stop using the blue shield, or else the CR value won't be high enough to link the chain into platinum on the next wave. This requires you to first do equal damage to all enemies and after that you can finish them by suiciding and then killing them during the invincibility period like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKfEhz8Km2w

There is a route so that you don't have to suicide on that part but suiciding makes linking the chain a lot easier on that section since speed is of the essence once they drop their shields. EDIT: To clarify, the main reason why you want to suicide is to regain the sub-weapon ammo so that you can kill them quickly, otherwise you need to be extremely aggressive and even then you might drop the platinum chain link. You also need to use your sub-weapon prior to suiciding in order to deal equal damage to all of the enemies.

Speaking of linking CR chains between waves, I also discovered on Chapter 7 that if you leave one part "alive" on the first orbital elevator and then do nothing but dodge lasers for 30+ seconds you'll eventually see that another laser starts firing. If you now destroy the last part of the orbital elevator while there are three streams of lasers on the screen at the same time, they will cancel into so much bronze CR that you will get platinum CR for every laser that you destroy and the CR chain will be linked with the green enemies that appear afterwards.

I will try and explore this CR chain linking between waves a bit more. I think that with this new piece of information, 230 mil might be doable! 8)

Oh man, I will jump for joy if this and Natsuki Chronicles gets ported to Steam! :) I'll be keeping my fingers crossed now that Eschatos is on Steam. Haha yeah, the leaderboards are quite barren unfortunately. Yeah, it's extremely weird that the japanese players didn't really get into it, I've been wondering about that as well. Nice, I agree with you wholeheartedly! I love pretty much everything about it :)

I love Type C but the sub-weapon lock-on glitch has killed too many of my runs at this point... Still a really fun ship-type though.
