Odd Famicom Robot Issue

So today I got in a Famicom Robot and at first it was not sensing any of the instructions from my PVM-14L5. He moves at power on just fine but just doesnt detect instructions. I went and grabbed my room mates NES R.O.B. and he works just fine with the PVM-14L5. I hooked up the borked Sony GVM and tried the Famicom robot with that and he works fine there. Would anyone happen to know a reason why this specific Famicom Robot will not work with the PVM-14L5 but my friend's R.O.B. does just fine? Is there any sort of adjustment that can be made to him?
