That's 6 bidders willing to pay over $100 and 3 bidders willing to pay over $200.

Hi fellas,
I remember thinking the same thing a while back when I was looking to buy that game - that the PS2 MvC2 costs a heck of a lot. I remember some thread on shoryuken that said that the PS2 version in particular had a very limited print run, so it's a pretty rare game. Apparently, it's not arcade-perfect, though, while the DC version is (Couldn't care less, but FYI)
Instead of forking over money on that one, I bought a DC version for like 1/3 the cost along with garou and some other stuff

It went out of print a long time ago, hard to find.
But why play the PS2 version? It sucks. Anti-air assists have less invincibility, aplha-counter doesn't work right, the sounds suck, and the game slows down/gets choppy when there is a lot going on. I swear it does it everytime during the Ironman infinite.

Not to mention sprites are smaller, eliminating certain combos that relied on the larger hitboxes. Of course, being a Naomi game in the first place didn't hurt the nearly perfect DC port at all.ahnslaught wrote:I remember some thread on shoryuken that said that the PS2 version in particular had a very limited print run, so it's a pretty rare game. However, the PS2 version is NOT rare. In fact, it sold 260,000 copies, which wasn't bad at all for a 2D game for its day. I'm guessing it's because of both collectors and too many gamers who only own PS2s and don't know that buying a DC and MVC2 is cheaper than the PS2 version. Got mine sealed for $35 just 2-3 years ago through nice contacts.
However, the PS2 Mark of the Wolves is pretty much a flawless port of the Neogeo version whereas the DC version is not quite.

Good point, I'm sure there's not a lot of people with DCs around, so that must jack up demand for the PS2 ver. Didn't think of that!Ganelon wrote:However, the PS2 version is NOT rare. I've heard that, esp with the sound effects or something, but to me, it plays just as well as it did on mame (Not like there's anyone that plays, much less even heard of, this game where I am, and lord almighty, when's the last time I've even seen an arcade?).Ganelon wrote: However, the PS2 Mark of the Wolves is pretty much a flawless port of the Neogeo version whereas the DC version is not quite.

The sound effects themselves are perfect, but SNK chose to use constant streaming from the disk to cut down on load times and this causes a half second delay between the onscreen action and the accompanying sound effects. It's really noticeable on Dream Match 1999, Garou, and Last Blade 2 Final Edition. Seems to have been corrected/just not as bad on the later KoF ports though.
The demand for PS2 MvC2 is so stupid. Even a used copy at Gamestop is currently $49.99.
