XRGB-mini Framemeister
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I have tested my Wii using Component on 480i for Virtual Console games. Needless to say, Rondo of Blood looks gorgeous using the 240p mode. I just used FBX's GC 480p 4x profile. The only (minor) issue is that with scanlines, there is a break in the dead center. Fiddled with a couple of settings and couldn't alleviate it. I'm not too concerned about it; its just a minor annoyance. I tried to use ray's Turbografx 4x profile, but the screen goes blank when I load it. The display never kicks in. I might do some more troubleshooting tonight. I just wish that I didn't move all of VC games to the Wii U a couple of years ago. It's going to be pricey to start rebuying the essentials.
I've also been able to get decent scanlines on the PS2 for 480i games. Using the 4x 480i profile, I changed the ZOOM_SIZE to 90, and was able to set INT_LINE to 40, and INT_SMOOTH to 105 (anything lower starts to bring back the flickering). I'm only going to use it for Capcom and SNK games. Those games look 'meh' without scanlines. Still need to do more testing to see if I'm willing to give up 480p on Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection, and King of Fighter '98 UM in order to get scanlines.

I've noticed this while playing PS1 games on PS2 to as well. Perhaps FBX can chime in and offer a solution for this?jdawg131 wrote:I have tested my Wii using Component on 480i for Virtual Console games. Changing the Zoom Size will mess up the scanlines. Don't do it. It may look fine at first but when you turn off scanlines and turn them back on.....well it looks like crap.jdawg131 wrote:I've also been able to get decent scanlines on the PS2 for 480i games. I'm pretty sure the CvS games ran at 480p in the arcade so they didn't have any scanlines.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I've had no issues using his 4x Component profile. Just tested again with Street Fighter Collection 2 and Symphony of the Night. Perfect scanlines.austin532 wrote:I've noticed this while playing PS1 games on PS2 to as well. Perhaps FBX can chime in and offer a solution for this?
Also just tested this again, and have no issues with scanlines after toggling off and on several times. The CvS games did run native at 480p (they were Naomi instead of CPS2), but the Alpha series and Vampire games were 240p. As was King of Fighters '98. Those games should have scanlines; the pixel art looks leagues better with them.austin532 wrote:Changing the Zoom Size will mess up the scanlines. Don't do it. Besides, I have CvS 2 on the Dreamcast. The Toro VGA Box is my next video game related purchase...

Totally new here and was hoping to get some assistance with my new XRGB and best set up for Amiga 1200. I just received it in the post and connected it up as follows:
Amiga 1200 > SCART > Euro SCART to DIN adapter (purchased from retro gaming cables on eBay) > XRGB Mini > HDMI > LG LCD TV
Bear with me, as I'm a total noob when it comes to screen modes and resolutions, but I purchased the device after scouring the web for the best value for money device that could also provide decent scanlines (I literally have no room for a CRT).
Would anyone mind sharing their settings/set-up if they also have an Amiga?
Thanks a lot guys, I really do appreciate any help you can provide?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I have confirmed that the scanline setting of 40 / 105 does work with FBX's default 4x 480i profile. Meaning - I get to keep his awesome work on the (correct) screen size / resolution. I'll try not to post any more about scanlines...
If anyone is interested, I can upload my Saturn profiles (1x for 240p and 1x for 480i hi-res mode). They're based off of FBX's 4x GEN UNIVERSAL profile. Hopefully, FBX will get ahold of a Saturn and do legit profiles for the system.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Alright, it seems he updated his 2x 480i/p profiles to allow uniform scanlines now. The downside is now I doubt they are still considered 2x pixel perfect. There was never a 4x 480i profile as that would be too big for a 1080p display.
1x profiles? That will be a mighty small picture and will require you to sit very close to your display.

Hi, I just tried this one but seems the scanlines get messed. Is this intended for 720p or 1080p? Also is it integer scaled? Thanks!Pentaru wrote:Hello ras,ras2a wrote:Hi guys,

One thing I forgot to add... how come I see 'white dots' dancing around in 576 mode?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Does anyone else have problem loading profiles sometimes?
This has happened a couple of times for me. I have profiles saved on my SD card, I try to load them, and literally nothing changes. Even when I use FBX's profiles this happens.

I haven't played with them much myself, but according to FBX's instructions you might need to power cycle it once or twice for it to recognize them.lechu wrote:Does anyone else have problem loading profiles sometimes?

^ This and from my experience you have to drag the files to the SD Card. If you copy and paste them they don't seem to work for some reason.

This should be one of the easiest things to fix in a firmware updatepyrotek85 wrote:I haven't played with them much myself, but according to FBX's instructions you might need to power cycle it once or twice for it to recognize them.lechu wrote:Does anyone else have problem loading profiles sometimes?

The problem is they'll stop working after I've already used them. Even ones I create myself stop working. I've done power cycling before and it doesn't seem to help. My firmware is the latest version.pyrotek85 wrote:I haven't played with them much myself, but according to FBX's instructions you might need to power cycle it once or twice for it to recognize them.lechu wrote:Does anyone else have problem loading profiles sometimes?

Is your mSD genuine for sure?
You could try to reformat it proper?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I think I may have found the issue. I renamed some of my profiles, and some I used _ in them. Looking through this old thread, it looks like you can't use underscores. I assumed something that small wouldn't make a difference. Will update if it starts happening again.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hi guys,
I see you're all using profiles so that you can easily recall settings. Can someone point me in the right direction of how to do this or, better still, is there a FAQ/english manual online somewhere?
Cheers guys
Craig

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Quick question regarding output on Dreamcast (using normal RGB/SCART cable) - why is it I notice like thin horizontal lines? Is this related to 480i? Thanks!
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
you've probably disabled the deinterlacing (by choosing the "picture" preset).why is it I notice like thin horizontal lines? Is this related to 480i?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Indeed =) - what mode is best for Dreamcast then please? Cheers!Fudoh wrote:you've probably disabled the deinterlacing (by choosing the "picture" preset).why is it I notice like thin horizontal lines? Is this related to 480i?
Also, are there any good scanline setting for Dreamcast @1080p? The ones I'm using which are perfect for MD/PCE mess up with the DC

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
natural, movie or standard. standard has a little more filtering.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I'm currently working on a suite of Game Boy Player integer profiles if anyone is interested. The Game Boy Player is a device connects to the Gamecube and allows you to play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games on it. The profiles will be based on the official Nintendo component cables. I've got GB/GBC profiles done for 480i and 480p thus far, and Try from My Life in Gaming is sending me a package of bootware and games to force 240p mode so I can make profiles for those. When the suite is finished, I'll upload the files and report back.

I still need to get a better controller though, I don't care for the GC pads when using it.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I just received my XRGB Mini today and am looking for assistance from users with more familiarity.
I'm using JP21 Pro RGB cables from Solaris Japan for PSX and SNES and everything is amazing, however I'm running into a couple problems with systems that I don't have the RGB cables for (yet). The system causing the most trouble in particular is the 32X via A/V composite.
Connecting my Gen 2 Mega Drive directly to the XRGB Mini with composite works fine (although it suffers from some of the well known Mega Drive banding issues), however when connecting the 32X, the colours are off and there's a sort of rainbow flashing effect. I know there's nothing wrong with the cable or 32X as it works plugged into my TV, however something is causing an issue when connected to the Framemeister. The 32X cleans up the video output of the Gen 2 Mega Drive beautifully, so not using it isn't my first choice.
Does anyone have any knowledge on this, and what I may be able to do?
The Pro RGB JP21 cables are available for the Mega Drive 2, and seeing as the 32X uses the same pin config, I assume it would work, but I'm wondering if there's an underlying compatibility issue with the 32X. Haven't found any info, hence my post! I'd like to get some more info before I order that cable as it's more expensive than the others.
Thanks.

Get a MicroSD card, upload the profiles to it through your PC or Mac (FBX profiles are great) and load them through the data menu on your Mini. Easy as that...ras2a wrote:Hi guys,

Don't forget to reboot your Mini twice otherwise it won't load

Assuming it uses the same display output as the SGB, the SGB profiles should work exactly the same for it.NormalFish wrote:A SGB(2) profile would be nice, too.
