Brand new game boxes always have something wrong with them..

Post by giantw3nis »

I can't stand it. Every time I buy a new game, controller, console etc... the box is always messed up. Some sort of ding, dent, giant gash or the art being warped. This stuff is brand new, it shouldn't have these type of blemishes on them. Is it so much to ask for a near perfect box? Does this happen to anyone else or do most people not care about this stuff?

Are you talking about people on ebay who sell allegedly new products? Otherwise, I normally get stuff in pristine condition.

Nope, not from ebay, directly from retail stores. I usually ask them for a different box but they always look at me like I'm absolutely crazy. (maybe I am) The xbox elite controller I ordered arrived yesterday and the box is annihilated. I couldn't replicate the damage if I tried.

I only really care for games. And I have replacement cases for those.

As annoying as it is to get a damaged product from a store (my Street Fighter IV LE from back in the day had a huge gash in the box which went straight through to the actual game case), as someone who's done stints in both a warehouse and a factory I can also understand how hard it is to move stuff around in perfect condition while making your quota, so unless it's something really nasty I'm inclined to let it go (and the folks behind the counter know me enough to offer me an alternative if it's that bad).

Nah, demand that shit. I know the feeling of buying something new and getting broken spindles inside the case with loose disks, creased manuals, gently crushed cardboard etc. Pisses me off too.

Give them a crumpled up, half ripped $50 bill for it. Tell them it got damaged in your wallet.

This little dude in the white shirt sitting on my left shoulder is mumbling something along the lines of "first world problems" to himself, while that strangely allurin red guy on my right shoulder is feeling your wrath, remembering the many times comics which had been bought as new arrived with creases or scratches where there should be none.

I get pissed when Blu-ray slipcovers are messed up, or the disk spindle is broken into pieces by Amazon's terrible packaging and shipping. I still use them for the most part, but I get bad ones replaced. When they ship collector's editions in an envelope it really grates on me.

X360 games' packaging is mostly terrible. Lots of brand new stuff coming with damaged manual or discs. :x

No ffing excuse for being damaged or imperfect.

The thing that bugs me with a lot of disc-based packaging these days is that stupid "green" thing going with DVD size cases where they have gigantic open holes beneath where the disc goes. Leaves the cases feeling flimsy and has a really bad tendency to cause indents on the inserts.

That only happened to me once on a $10 PS3 game (Dishonored), and I called them up and they gave me a full refund and I got to keep the game.

Gradius Deluxe Pack for Saturn arrived loose in the case when I got it, but amazingly, the disc was still in pristine condition. I did end up moving the disc and inserts to another case since the disc holder was broken, though.

The worst packaging I had was someone stole the credit card info (a problem that was thankfully resolved) and EB didn't inform US of the problem before we contacted them. The package was paritally crushed when it arrived and one of the games, Burning Force (thankfully I found another working one) didn't work.

Fuck no, Leynos 2 is cool. It's just afflicted by the same tragedy of the other two, being one-third of the ultimate mecha sidescroller broken into three separate games and scattered across multiple systems.

I couldn't get into it when I had it in the past, and not for lack of trying. Always willing to give it another go though.

why do U even care? NTSC-U got the worst box art of any regions? I wouldnt even wanna have boxes for games If I would have to buy NTSC-U games...

just buy disc/cart/card and buy NTSC-J or PAL UK region boxes for them if U insist on having boxes (with english text on them)...

no off but USA got some of THE WORST DESIGNED ART ON VIDEO GAME BOXES EVER! :D
