You don't have to modify the switch to support this, just feed that Green signal as sync and it'll work. However I'm very happy about PS2 YPbPr.
I just use an Extron interface, going to have to convert it back to RGBs at some point to use it with most displays/converters anyway, so might as well just go PS2->Extron interface->Gscart->wherever you want it.
However I'm very happy about PS2 YPbPr.
You can't route YPbPr through the gScart though right?

Well, actually you can, but that would be a weird application because you'll have to come up with some output solution to get your component to your TV from RGBS lines kinda some homemade adapter :)
YPbPr is electrically compatible with RGB.

Not that unusual, I've done it for a lot of years with DVDO Edge and XRGB3 which have component and RGB input on the same connectors.

but, if gscart uses sync to detect an input, it's not going to work with Ypbpr since that doesn't have separate sync?

(Not a complaint or criticism btw, just an observation)

Y carries sync. There should be always sync somewhere :)

Yes true but Gscart won't detect that will it? The standard for routing ypbpr through SCART is to use the RGB lines.

Superg, I got a technical question for the JP21 switch that you are going to be making.

The strange thing about my setup is that all my cables are JP21, but my displays are SCART. Currently I am using a JP21 to SCART cable that I cooked up myself.

For SCART to work optimally you need to feed ~3V on one pin and ~9-12v on another pin, if memory serves right. One switches to RGB mode, the other signals to the TV that there is an 4:3 AV signal incoming.

I assume on the SCART version you feed the correct voltages to these pins, but JP21 does not have either pin, although it does have a 5v pin one can use in a bind.

I assume the 5v pin is the only thing wired on your JP21 output port, right?

Yes, if Y line is not fed to the composite pin - nothing will be detected.
Again, you can use something like this on both ends in input/output mode and insert green RCA jack (Y) into yellow.

However I haven't tried and I don't think I'll use such setup here.

You are correct about SCART 4:3 / RGB voltages, that's what gscartsw is providing in the SCART version.
JP21 version though provides only 5V which you can use for your needs. You'll have to add to your cable either charge pump or DC-DC converter to get your 9-12V out of provided 5V.

Thanks, thought as much. Luckily my TV does not need the 9-12v so I usually just forgo it.

You could do that, but if you're routing RGB and YPBPR through the same matrix (e.g for DVDO Edge or XRGB3) it's going to get confusing trying to connect everything correctly. I think it's just better to use a separate component video switching solution.

You can always order DSub cables and get an Extron VGA switch as well. It will cost much less than $240, I got mine for less than $40 shipped and custom-ordered a few cables for about $70... If you aren't swimming in SCART cables as it is I'd probably recommend it regardless of whether or not orders were currently open.

Are any online vendors offering international shipping? I sent a mail to retrorgb but I never got a reply. Would love one of these but I am based in the UK.

I know OSSC has been a distraction but I'm still interested in this even if the first batch proved too expensive to import. Hopefully after the first batch we might be able to find a solution for European customers to have them manufactured here in the EU.

I do hope this happens at some point. I'm sure there will be many people willing to throw money at it, myself included. My dream setup is currently gscartsw + OSSC

How do Europeans order this thing then?

He did this for the first batch, almost everybody managed to order one (worldwide). Pre-orders were open for one week and there really were a plenty of time. Countless posts about it in assemblergames thread, PM's RetroRGB Twitter & Facebook - I don't know how could anyone interested miss it. And yet there are folks who either don't know how to subscribe to topic or simply don't check their emails / don't use the internet for a week. I don't know how to explain this.

Not having a Facebook or Twitter account helps :P

So he does ship internationally? That's good to know. I somehow got the impression he didn't.

I don't have a Twitter / Facebook account as well. Subscribing to the topic is enough :)

Really? I replied to every email I received regarding the switch...and there were a LOT of them! Did mine get sent to a SPAM filter?
ZellSF wrote:Oh, RetroRGB doesn't ship to EU? :(

I'm shipping the first batch worldwide and hopefully Video Game Perfection can handle all EU sales afterwards. We tried to set it up that way from the start, but logistically, it wasn't possible without adding a lot of cost to each one.

So if you don't care about automatic switching and overall case design/inputs count and you're using XRGB - Bandridge is just fine.
Hello I was researching the "Bandridge 5-port SCART Selector" and I came upon this conversation.

I discovered in my research that there might be a problem with some versions "but it seems there is an easy fix".

It appears that you are discussing the same problem here. I wanted to know if the issue is found in either the Manual or Automatic versions or if this is found in both.

I am discussing this in another forum if you'd like to see the conversation there.

Thanks for any help you can provide :)

Hello I was researching the "Bandridge 5-port SCART Selector". In my research I discovered that while most people appear to have good experiences with the Switch some have had issues. But it seems there is an easy fix.

There are two versions of this switch. An Automatic version and a Manual version. Can you specify which version has this error? If you'd like to read, this is an offshoot of a conversation I started in another forum

Thanks for any help that you might be able to give :)

Thanks for the quick reply about the Manual Bandridge 5-port SCART Selector. Do you know anyone that has any experience or knowledge about the Automatic/Powered Bandridge? Would you think that it's safe to purchase?
