Question regarding Sony PVM 14m2e service menu settings

Post by Jedi_Frustenburg »

Hello. I appear to be having a problem with my Sony PVM 14m2e and am seeking for some help. Basically I was having some geometry issues with it so I entered into the hidden service menu and adjusted them. Then recently I hooked my Wii with the 240p test suite on it to fine tune settings and get them as close to perfect as I can. However whenever I turn the monitor off and back on again the settings reset. If anyone can tell me why it is doing this and/or how I can get the settings to remain the same will be greatly appreciated.

Here is some additional details that may be of help:
I currently only have two systems hooked up (Wii and NES) which are both hooked up through composite as I currently don't have RGB scart cables. The Wii is running in 60hz while the NES is running in 50hz as it is a PAL system.

Thank you in advance :D

I believe that's essentially the same monitor as my 14L2, you need to save the changes. I can't remember where I read the info, and can't remember it exactly, but IIRC this involved changing the maintenance ID to a certain value (it's like a password) and then doing the "factory save" on the ENG tab.

I really wish I had a copy of the service manual for this thing.

EDIT: This service manual is for the 20M2E, so that should hopefully be the same for the 14" model:

Maybe I'm misremembering, or maybe your monitor is different, but to save from RAM to ROM:
When writing data from the RAM to the ROM, press the [DEGAUSS] key once and check that the WRITE display shown in the guidance, and then press the [DEGAUSS] key once again. Not only the displayed data will be written, but all data, so please be careful.
Be sure not to turn off the monitor while it's writing.
