Ash vs Evil Dead - Season 3 Bugaloo
Yes, we have a TV thread.
But this series.
Guys.
Only two episodes in. It has completed my life. Without it, your life is an empty void bereft of purpose.
You should watch it.
Thank you for your time.

Have yet to watch ep2 but yeah it's a nice gift from Raimi and Campbell to us old far...er, fans.
The sidekick actors though seemed completely bland/useless, Bruce alone is enough to make the show IMHO as he was with the original movies anyway.

Re: Ash vs The Evil Dead
Have to disagree here. I only saw ep1 but as it stands I thought the non Bruce Campbell scenes were much more tense and fruitful than the scenes where Bruce is performing ridiculous sex scenes and pulling those silly faces. I think it has its place in the series but it just seems very silly. I would rather see Bruce killing zombies getting pissed off with it (in a funny way) rather than seeing him act all cool and prepared in a James Bond meets Texas Chainsaw massacre kind of way. Its early days yet, but on the merit of the first episode I would rather see him doing the things he done in Army of Darkness. Also I prefer the cabin setting to down town Nashville or where ever its set.Xyga wrote:Have yet to watch ep2 but yeah it's a nice gift from Raimi and Campbell to us old far...er, fans.

Am I the only one who likes the first movie, but didn't really like the dark humour path the movies took after?
Still, it's cool this is being made.

Pablo really grew on me in eppy 2. He's just as ridiculous as Bruce in his own incredibly naive way.Xyga wrote:The sidekick actors though seemed completely bland/useless, Bruce alone is enough to make the show IMHO as he was with the original movies anyway.
"Well, for your first time you did great. Most folks just end up dead."
"Yeah, but, but, I don't wanna end up dead like most folks."
I'm not a fan of the silly slapstick three-stooges style stuff, but I think the comedy makes it distinct and a bit more fun.Am I the only one who likes the first movie, but didn't really like the dark humour path the movies took after?
It helps that the modern setting in this one doesn't make me think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Re: Ash vs The Evil Dead
Part 2 is the one that is cemented in my mind, as the "perfect" Evil Dead movie. But I am a fan of gory comedy horror. Some people I know, that don't like the genre, only like the first one. Then some people like the third one, since it's pretty much a comedy.soprano1 wrote:Am I the only one who likes the first movie, but didn't really like the dark humour path the movies took after?

2 is definitely comedy horror. Not everyone is into that.
I like all three though.

2 episodes in and I have a big shiteating grin on my face
So far this series captures the spirit of the evil dead so well. I frickin' love it. Ash is a cowardly asshole like always.
This thread needs at least as many animated gifs as the Eastbound and Down thread

Spoiler
I love the part where he punches the mom and when she turns to a deadite he says, "finally, I was starting to feel like a dick!"
Re: Ash vs The Evil Dead
I almost made this thread last week, but I was worried the second episode would suck... but it didn't. That dinner scene. The tension. The coldcock. The follow-up joke. I was dying as hard as I did with that bathroom sex-scene. I'm coming, I'm coming.. We're coming for you!
I hope I never grow up. That must really suck.

Re: Ash vs The Evil Dead
So good they renewed it for a second season three days before it even aired.
Re: Ash vs The Evil Dead
I like the second too, just not as much as the first. Third one I can say it wasn't very good, at least to me.evil_ash_xero wrote:Part 2 is the one that is cemented in my mind, as the "perfect" Evil Dead movie. But I am a fan of gory comedy horror. Maybe i'll check out the series sometime, might find the black humour good.

Show keeps delivering
"you know I'm not Mexican right?"
"thats the spirit "
Re: Ash vs The Evil Dead
Yup !
Spoiler
that demon in ep3 wasn't half bad

Re: Ash vs The Evil Dead
Lucy Lawless' character could bring some pretty good competition and awkward sexual attraction with Ash. Brilliant casting, really plays off the B-film schtick. Should be good.
Re: Ash vs The Evil Dead
I hadn't seen any of the Evil Dead movies going in but after the first episode I watched all 3. Shows been great so far but I find the 30 minute episodes far too short. As is some of the crappy cgi completely taking me out of the show (the glass in the 3rd episode for instance).

Didn't like #3 too much, but have high hopes for ze #4.
25 minutes isn't enough. It should be 25 hours per episode. Grumble grumble.
I KNOW RIGHT. It drives me up the wall too.AntiFritz wrote:Shows been great so far but I find the 30 minute episodes far too short

Re: Ash vs The Evil Dead
By the way, it's Ash vs Evil Dead (no the)
Only part of 3 I didn't like was how they were so nonchalant about what happened to that deamon. 25 min is the problem I think.

Re: Ash vs Evil Dead
I find it mildly entertaining with a laugh here and there, but its certainly not breached the 6/10 sort of score I would have given ep 1 yet. I agree that 25 mins per week is a bit lame, 25 mins per day would have suited the show better.. Or better still, its suited for a straight DVD release in a box set, or a straight 10 ep netflix download.

Re: Ash vs Evil Dead
Love it so far. The demon in ep 3 looked really cool. Pretty damn funny & true to the spirit of the movies so far.
My only complaint is bad CGI, but at least most of the fx are practical.
"Yeah! You like my wooooood?!?" *smack*

Re: Ash vs Evil Dead
Ah, I thought that demon looked more Silent-Hill-esque than Evil-Dead-esque.
In the original movies you don't see much genuine creatures of the darkness after all (putting aside the possessed humans and things I mean).

I really enjoy the show. I've been trying to tell everybody I know to watch it- it's been a lot of cheezy fun. Anybody that had a curiosity in any of the movies owes it to themselves to watch the series.

Re: Ash vs Evil Dead
This show is a real blast. Thought Ash vs Evil Dead was going to be full length movie. So i didn't keep track how far that project was.
At least until a friend told me 5 weeks ago that the first episode just got aired.
It was a very good idea that made a TV show instead another movie thing. Also like the fact that the episodes are no longer than 25 minutes.
I would even go that far that this show is a lot more entertaining than the adventures of Rick and Cooorl and their walking dead fellas. There i said it. And i'm not gonna take it back.

edit: 'In the original movies you don't see much genuine creatures of the darkness after all (putting aside the possessed humans and things I mean).'
The correct medical term for those transformed humans is 'deadite'...

Re: Ash vs Evil Dead
The one-liners are more bad James Bond than Evil Dead, but there is nothing else this ballsy available on the market, so 5-hour Evil Dead gets a pass from me.
Army of Darkness removed from canon makes me sad.
