The official DC page is up:

http://www.mile-stone.co.jp/product/rad ... di_dc.html

Also there seems to be a blacked out box with a question mark inside halfway down the page which eludes to some kind of secret.

I'm willing to try this out-- however, after the travesty that was Chaos Field, I think I'll only be giving this one an "evaluation"...... $50 or 60 for a brand-new shmup is a gamble, especially from Milestone...

They are the old Compile shmups programmers, "tuning back to the genre", so to speak. We'll soon see if they're already up to their past glories...

Every shooter company has its shit games. I'd give milestone another chance if non-dc fanboys like the game.

but have said non-DC fanboys had the privelege to play the best of what the DC has to offer? Iky, Shiki, Border Down, Mars Matrix.. ......by non-DC fanboys, do you mean NGC owners who only know of Ikaruga and Chaos Field? :(

I think I could accurately describe myself as a non-DC fanboy and I've played all of 'em. For the record, I have ordered the game so prepare yourselves for my World-of-Stu quality insights (he's the best game journalist in the world). 8)

...You will bitch about "ranking", after having been 20 years in the business :?

I've never heard of ranking. Even though I don't know what that is, it sounds stupid... Seriously though, I'll make sure to cover all of the finer points, like unlockable credits and cool weapons. 8)

Rank makes it harder as you get better. An example would be getting far in, say, Mushihime-sama, without dying-- and noticing the bullets coming faster. Ibara, from what I've heard, is all about the Rank.

Well Chaos Field was their first game too. I can only hope the game was done in a few months as a means of revenue while Milestone was working on other projects like Radigry. G.Rev's first game was nothing more than a arcade version of minesweeper with anime characters, they barely registered on the radar til Border Down hit. *-neo

Thanks, Icarus. The "chip management/charging" sounds interesting. I think I am in now. Gradius Collection this week then Rajirugi the next. Sweet.

Two questions: where i can buy the OST for the best price?
What the limited edition offers, as an extra? (And where to get it)?

I don't think there is an LE for this... just the regular edition.

Sega Direct has some extras though... I think.

Bad news... Gamepro's rating (5/6/6/5):

Image

Their review: "Here's a new shoot 'em up (Ikaruga) from the makers of Chaos Field (GCN exclusive, developed by O3 Entertainment). The graphics are cell-shaded, but don't think Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker because this game looks old. Your ship can sword-swipe at enemies, which is a unique twist on the tried and true shoot 'em up formula. If you're looking for a nostalgia fix, this could be a game you'd enjoy. -Crazy Kangaroo"

Nice pic. Nice touch using the old Gamepro rating faces. I miss those. Kind of. Sort of. Well...they were fun back then.

zomg! *Commits suicide*

Any hope that the best game journalist in the world can do justice to this game and counter-review Rajirugi for great justice?

Why is that "bad news" ?

Its not like anyone seriously interested in the genre is going to listen to a mainstream western review.

Let alone one that looks like a bad mock up Rob :P Wrong game name, Wrong release date, Wrong player info etc

Someone should e-mail Gamepro about it then (I'm too lazy).

Well, the name isn't wrong... just transliterated.

The release date is only off by 2 days, so that's exscusable.

The number of players, however, is certainly a mistake.
