Steam has applied the patch for me now, and the scoreboard issues are completely fixed - very impressed with how quickly this was sorted!

Bit of a shameless plug here but since I know you're a dev yourself, one of the good things about GMOSSE's original design (which Zenohell was built on originally and thus inherits a lot of its features) is that most features are modularised - once we saw it was scoreboard related the issue was very easy to track down to a single object controller and get fixed. Thanks for letting us know about it so quickly too ;)

Really glad people are getting into this! I did not expect the game to be such a success. :D

Patch #2 has been deployed! We finally got track of a bug that bothered us a long time ago, basically sometimes when you unlock the 4th ship, the transluency of the player ship would mess up because of GMS's quirky alpha antics.

Itch.io has received the latest patch #2 as a seperate zip that you can access if you already bought the game. And future patches will land on both steam and itch.io, itch.io may take minutes/few hours more to get the patch uploaded depending on how busy I am.

I'm really impressed by how fast the patches have been rolled out in response to bug reports, so the modular engine design was definitely a good idea! Talking of bugs, I found a minor one while playing earlier: sometimes Music and SFX Volume aren't saved when exiting the game.

I agree, this would be especially useful for anyone with the Itch version since updates aren't applied automatically like on Steam.

Fixed the weird behaviour regarding music ini picking, but I can't reproduce what you guys are saying with the configs. As long as you make your changes then exit to the main menu (or if you're ingame, the pause menu screen) it should immediately save to config.ini. If you can reproduce this in a way that I can do the same I can get down to the bottom of it starting Monday.

I also added a version string of when the game was compiled last, you can see it in the Misc. Options menu. Was going to use GM_build_date which gives really precise compile time numbers but that's not easy to remember off the top of the head so we'll call it v1.03 for now. Expect it to go live within the next few hours.

And with that said, patch #3 (aka 1.03) has been deployed both on itch.io and steam, fixing that weird behavior (and something else I forgot about already).

Picked it up. Feels like the bullets are a bit too fast sometimes, but that could just be me being a scrub. Well worth the price so far, though. I love high boss density.

EDIT with a request - is there a way to have it remember the initials I entered last time, so I don't have to re-enter them after every run?

Pardon the lack of fast response from us, we are just taking a little break and enjoying our weekend, we'll get on the feedback properly starting Monday.

I was tempted to buy this, but it was a choice between this game and the also newly released DeltaZeal that I've been waiting for. Sadly, I couldn't afford both. And to be honest, I didn't even know about this game until I saw it on Steam, so DeltaZeal won out.

I'll pick up this game someday, though, as it looks interesting.

So I creditfed through to the end and stage 6 did not unlock in Stage Select mode. Is that intentional? Is it only unlockable through 1cc-ing?

You do need to 1cc to a stage to unlock it for stage select in all modes.

Patch #4 is out on both platforms.

- Ending A's typo "Light in the tunnel" was changed to "Light at the end of the tunnel" :P
- Better controller support.
- Tried to fix the stage 3 boss medal issue, turns out the body gave out medals while it should'nt have (only the head does now).
- Default controls are shown on the first loading screen.

I'll try to put in the initial remembering thing next patch, haven't implemented it properly yet ;)

Finally made it to stage 7 on my last remaining life, and then died a couple minutes in. I have every stage unlocked for practice now. :V

Man this game is fun. At first I thought the placement of some of the power-up items was cheeky; in stage 5 especially they come right when an enemy who fires fast bullets is about to pop out of the top of the screen. But then I noticed that grabbing the power-up items cancelled bullets into medals and then it became a nifty little mechanic wherein it's beneficial to wait for a bit before grabbing it.

I love the first stage 5 theme, it reminds me of Mega Man X. :D

I do sort of think the difficulty is all over the place at times, but on reflection, this might not be a bad thing. It creates a nice ebb and flow of the game going from "relaxing" to "requiring moderate amounts of attention" to "OH SHIT WHY IS THERE SO MUCH FFF" right back to "relaxing" again.

I also like how "easy to learn" this style of stage and boss design is. It keeps individual plays intense, while allowing you to see marked improvement with almost every credit.

You motherfuckers have done good with this horseshit.

I'm glad to see this work of yours, Kaiser! :D

I just bought it, but first impressions (arcade mode) is that it is great. I especially like the mix of slow and fast bullets within attacks. The fast gameplay reminded me of caravan games mixed with a bit of Raizing.

Music seems nice too at first hearing (and I didn't make it far). I liked the title "safe spot" (when you clear a stage) and "oh noes" (when you die). :) I will definitely play more (and return with some more substantive comments, I hope).

edit: A very unimportant remark. I was surprised the number of ships in upper left corner does not refer to number of lives you have in stock, but rather the number of lives you have in total. The former is much more common, right? I felt robbed one life! :P

Hey guys, Fox here. Hope you all enjoy the amount of work we've managed to put into the game (I eventually returned some time after my laptop died on me). Touching up the sprites as well as making some new ones was a challenging effort, but I've learned a lot from this experience. Look forward to our future games!

Zenohell is in this bundle, for next 24 hours costs $1,50 (you also get all the games in the bundle by placing the bundle pre-order), this is probably as cheap as it will get for a while, i'll update you on the price of the game on the groupees once the pre-order phase is over ;)

You get both a steam key and a DRM free copy on the groupees bundle!

Offer updated, now you can purchase the game for $1, you need to select Zenohell and some other game (2 games are minimum unfortunately), as I said, the game comes DRM-free and with a steam key if you get it. It's also giftable so you can gift it to your friends. This is your best shot at getting it THIS cheap (probably the only shot too)

I think everybody is too busy ripping into each other over the Mushihimesama port.

In all seriousness, I'll try and take a look at this at some point.

Currently playing it myself. It's pretty brutal, but oh, such a great, addictive shmup! Dropping playing Batsugun in favor of Zenohell.

If you've got time these days to do a few voice bits I can certainly add them in once I get my compile environment going again (had a hard drive failure, code's on a private GIT repo now but I gotta reinstall GMS). Give me a buzz if you have any ideas as to how to go about it. :)
