1. Skips told me a few months ago to recap my BVM after he saw the geometric distortion on my monitor (must've been pretty bad as I didn't even mention it). Did he mean the electrolytic capacitors? Because I'm about to replace those and I want to know if that's gonna fix it.
2. What looks better on a BVM: RGB or Component? I'm wondering because I have a PS2 and I use component cables for it.
3. Did I break the tally lamp? The day I got it I was an idiot and thought that it was a button because I was trying to take off the 16:9 faceplate and wondered if I was supposed to eject it by pressing that. I heard a snapping sound and now it's pushed in. Can I reattach it to the front, and if so, will it still work?

Re: BVM-20F1U Questions
If you have distortions in geometry that can not be fixed by the service menu you want to replace the electrolytic capacitors in the deflection card. That is the part that controls geometry for the monitor. The most problematic capacitors in it are the surface mounted ones. Start with those and see if it clears up. If it does not replace the others as well. Will it fix it for sure? That is uknown , however it is the next step of troubleshooting this monitor. The surface mounted capacitors in this model are a known issue and definitely should be replaced regardless.
Since the 20f1u does not support 480p rgb will be better.
The tally lamp really is not important. It is not really needed for the application you will be using this monitor in.

I am no longer taking free or paid modding projects, please do not contact me asking for my services. Thanks

Re: BVM-20F1U Questions
Someone may correct me, but there are also some high voltage poly caps which should be replaced on the deflection board IIRC.
