Congrats Knight! Trust me, G is going to be the least of your problems when you start learning the other courses. I was trying for quite a while to clear Z' (all up Z) but Great Thing is just fuckin' insane, at least auto-off. I've given up on it for the moment.

Thank you! :)

I am aware that there are much harder zones than G, but at my current level of familiarity with Darius Gaiden, I don't even think I can tackle those.
As I try the other routes a bit more, I will stop having issues with G, that's for sure. ^^

NMNB and all but one midboss captured. Maybe I should try a harder route as I don't think I really feel like optimizing the easy route too much.

That's really close to #1 though, you really ought to push it just a little bit farther.

I was under the impression that the other courses despite being vastly harder are lower scoring than V course. Maybe Milking Great things drills in Z' might yield something higher? Not an easy task but I'm sure it's within your abilities. Otherwise the other courses are mostly survival challenges. DG isn't really the greatest game to play for score.

Prinny - 4,721,050 - ABDHLQV (ALL) - No rapid fire - Screenshot1 - Screenshot2 - Taito Legends 2 (PS2)

First arcade horizontal shmup clear I've done. Started playing this around September, but I decided to take the weekend to try to figure out ABDHLQV. Run started to fall apart in Zone Q after dying to the midboss on that stage. Ended up bombing any time I felt I was in danger just so I didn't end up wasting any of my resources. Ran out of resources on Risk Storage since I decided to bomb spam any time it opens its mouth since I wasn't too sure what it would do after I destroyed its tail.

Ahlnold - 5, 483,290 - ABDHLQV (ALL) - Rapid fire (Saturn)

Hi everyone. I write my first post in this forum to mark my first ever 1cc of a shmup. Somehow I messed up when typing my high score. I panicked, thinking that I had lost my score for ever, but when I went back to the first level again and killed myself - there it was. Phew (although it would be nicer if it didn't say "AAA" :? ).

Just upped my best score tonight at Galloping Ghost:

HAN - 10,654,360 - ABDHLQV (ALL) - NO - PCB

Very happy with this auto-off score, I think I'm done trying to increase it.

Thank you! Spent a couple of months working to get this score, but it honestly felt shorter since I enjoy the game so much.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly are you doing to put that additional 2 million onto the course's "natural" payout of 8 mill? Any tips for those looking to level up auto-off scoring a bit?

Well, I'm getting to Risk Storage with approx 2.9 million, so after I knock off his tail and a few fins, I'm near 4mil. With the end of game bonuses maxed out for all captains captured and having 5 bomb stocks, that puts you near what I scored. Here is a run I did a few weeks ago where I missed Risk Storages tail, and had only 2 bombs left (so missing 3 * 300k each) but did end up getting all 6 captains captured for 1.2mil.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu5fdzKXebg

I unfortunately didn't record my best run, but it wasn't anything extra like trying to remove more bosses parts. I usually go for all 6 captures on the captains, so I try to keep rank low by purposefully not knocking off bosses destructable parts.

Edit: I also have to give credit where its due, I PM'd and sought advice from MathUDX- and his channel on youtube helped me immensely; he's got some awesome auto-off runs on his channel:

Posting this for the novelty of seeing a route on the scoreboard that isn't ABDHLQV (not to belittle anyone's clear; least of all my own!). Played on shmupmame with autofire for kicks as I wait for my Japanese Saturn copy to come in.

EmperorIng - 5,222,350 - ACFINSY - YES

I'm just not good enough to get the stage 3 and 7 captains, lol.

Nice clear! You don't often see the Y zone pop up in score submissions indeed.
AFAIK, it is easier to capture the last stage's captain without autofire. I think that due to the rank increase, the sphere has much more health and you end up killing the captain first. From my personal experience at least, I know I managed to capture those only when I switched from 5-delay autofire to no-auto for the run.

The stage 3 mid-boss has to be baited to be captured. (pun intended) By luring it to the bottom of the screen and locking its position there for his fireball attack, you have a short window where you can point-blank the sphere. You'll need to do this twice to capture it.

Odious Trident is a fun boss (I still haven't beaten him without autofire; I love it when he splits in half), and I wasn't feeling man enough to take down Hysteric Empress (though her stage is probably my favorite of the final stages). I'll probably try a proper no-auto run once I get my Saturn copy (decided I wanted to save space and have a game whose cover actually matches what I'll be seeing in-game, ha).

Thanks for the tips on capturing the stage 3 midboss. That one has seriously eluded me for years now and I am usually too panicky to go for the capture.

This score could be better if I can capture 3, 5, 6, 7 captains but that's are luck-based strategy, so I'm going safe here.

Captured only the B and D captains but no-missed till Deadly Crescent, and it was my first time ever facing the V stage. I managed Risk Storage through bomb spamming and button mashing but considering I started playing this game three weeks ago and I wasn't serious about it 'till last week I'm pretty satisfied with this. >:^)

Nice one! I find playing without autofire much more difficult than playing with. Especially hard to manage all the stuff thrown at you in the stages...

Thank you! To be honest it was an incredibly lucky clear, I still have a really difficult time managing to pass through stage G without crashing myself into the obstacles or messing up with the hopping bots but that run went really well. I also have to say MathU's videos were a huge help, they are nearly flawless and chock full of useful tricks about how to tackle the most difficult parts of the game.
