Gryphon Knight Epic Launched on Steam

Post by sandrinus »

Hey guys, how are you?

I'm one of the developers of Gryphon Knight Epic and it is with pride that I'm here to show it to you. I've posted an early demo here at the forums when we came up with the idea and gathered awesome feedback from you guys. Even made some new frieds that helped along the way! And we thank you for that!

If you don't know what I'm talking about here's the short version:.

GRYPHON KNIGHT EPIC

Image

Gryphon Knight Epic is a 2D Medieval Shoot’em up for Windows, MAC & Linux. Mixing elements from classical shoot’em ups, exploration and duel-like boss battles, it tells the story of Sir Oliver and Áquila, an accomplished knight and his loyal gryphon that are forced back to adventure once again.

FEATURES:

-Fight your way through 8 hand-crafted levels
-Duel with challenging bosses and get their weapons
-Explore the stages to find equipment for your character and bits of ancient lore of the world
-Enjoy challenging gameplay and pixel art graphics, just like old times
-Windows, Mac, & Linux versions with Gamepad support

Some reviews that we had:

Modvive - 85 out of 100
“Mega Man and Gradius had a Son!”

Games Finest - 8 out of 10
“All in all Gryphon Knight is really very successful on what it wants to be, there is little to criticize.”

Generacion Pixel - 8 out of 10
“In short, we have been pleasantly surprised by this Gryphon Knight Epic”

Vandal - 8 out of 10
“In short, Gryphon Knight Epic is a game that we recommend to those who like the shooter genre, pixelated and colorful graphics, funny stories and specially hard challenges.”

Bit Cultures - 7.9 out of 10
“Fantastically fun, old-school gameplay”

And finally...a disclaimer from us, the developers: We really hope you enjoy GKE. But beign at a super dedicated forum like this I have to warn people of some things. Our game is not a typical shmup... it carries heavy influences of the Megaman franchise and because of that the game has a slower pace and it's a mix of shmup and an action adventure. We really hope you guys enjoy this mix... but we can understand if it doesn't fit 100% with your tastes. Anyways give it a try :D

Is this accurate? The Humble listing only has the Steam icon next to it, not the DRM-Free one...

Is Humble the only place you can get it DRM-free? I always find it baffling when a developer allows their game to be sold DRM-free in one place but then continues to sell it with DRM elsewhere. Once you've freed the game from DRM somewhere, and piracy is now as simple as copying that DRM-free version, do you really think that DRM is doing anything at all to prevent piracy anymore?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

@BulletMagnet: The site have been fixed, now it shows the DRM-Free.

@MathU: Even on Steam we don't do DRM, if you buy it you can copy the contents as if you bought it from Humble, but some people consider Steam itself to be a DRM, that's why we put it on Humble as well.

Guess there was a misunderstanding, sounds great then! I hope you'll get it on some more stores at some point.

@MathU We put the game on Nuuvem, Souking and Splitplay (all stores from Brazil... that's why I didn't mention them here).
