As a fellow DC lover this thread has kind of sold me on a Bravia as my next TV.

Would the Gefen VGA to DVI essentially result in the same image quality as the Gefen VGA to HDMI?

the question should be the other way around. The DVI version only gives you great quality with a DC because of a little bug in the firmware which allows for a sampling setting that you cannot achieve manually. So the question essentially is wether the much newer HDMI version got that same bug (or feature if you like) or not.

Are you talking about pushing the auto adjust button on the gefen when using the dreamcast that seemingly pushes the phase past 100?
