doesn't matter, but your Scart to BNC adapter has to match your decision for the RGB cable. People usually go for Euro-Scart layout unless they're using a XRGB unit.

The only reason to get JP-21 cables is if you're using A/V equipment with a JP-21 port (e.g. older XRGBs and other Japanese devices).

Otherwise you're better off with SCART.

I've been using JP-21 cables exclusively with my Framemeister. About the only aspect I can see SCART having a possible advantage is more readily available switch box selector options. Short of that, there's no need to go SCART if all you're doing is hooking into the Framemiester. It comes with JP-21 adapter ready to go, whereas you'd need to buy a separate adapter for SCART.

One reason to choose JP-21 is the snes, if you use and American or Japanese unit.

The European hardware needs resistors and the others capacitors, so getting a scart pinout cable with caps would need to be a hybrid custom.

This is why I always recommend sticking to JP-21 here in Mexico, so it doesn't complicate matters more for newcomers.

That's a weird reasoning. EU Scart cables for NTSC SNES/SFC systems are easily available, especially since the PAL Gamecube systems use the same cable config.

I understand they are available. But when buying European cables you can get cables that won't work correctly with an American snes.

If you buy jp21, there is no mistake to be made by inexperienced buyers.

but isn't that only true for the original japanese SFC cable ? If you buy custom cables, you can just as easily get a JP21 layout with resistors instead of caps for PAL SNES consoles.

Of course I get your point, just sayin' that it's a weak one.

Sure, you can mistakenly buy SCART accessories, which are much more abundant, no?

I would say your average classic gamer in North America will never encounter JP21 accessories or equipment with the exception of the XRGB hardware.
