I just bought a PS1 RGB Scart cable. I'm assuming it must've been wired using composite video for sync (since I'm seeing a checkerboard pattern). I want to rewire it and use luma sync. This may seem stupid, but I don't know how to open the av connector without damaging it (not the scart end). I practiced with an old rca version, but I just had to hack away with some wire cutters. Even when I opened it, I had no idea how I would be able to rewire it (even though I'm only changing one connection).
Is there an easy way to open the av cable to move the sync to luma, without having to worry about breaking the cable?
Thanks in advance.

Just unscrew the round neck under the scart connector and you'll be able to open up the scart end to rewire the pins. Still a bit of a pain as you have to push the blades out and back in, but completely possible. I rewired a euro scart cable to jpn scart cable doing this.

He wants to open the other end of the cable. That end is not made to be opened without damaging the enclosure. You are going to have to break it open, then glue it back up. Or you could mod your console instead.

Cut the cable as close as possible to the connector and use circlip pliers to separate the shells. You'll have to fit a new strain relief but that's easy enough. Never tried with a PS1 cable but it always worked well when I did it on Nintendo cables.
