I wasn't specifically talking about NeoGAF, but oh yeah, that's THE place for this kind of thing. It's not that it attracts that type of people. It's that they ban everyone that aren't in the hive mind. So, all that is left are these fruitcakes, or those who know better than to say something that goes against their hive mind. I have given up with that place for a bit after a recent weeks ban for posting that I didn't think the Hogan drama was that bad really, given that he's an old man talking about his daughters sex life in a private conversation a decade ago, and that stopping promoting or employing him was probably a reasonable response while trying to scrub him from history wasn't. The ban message was "I don't think this ban is that bad really".

There are certain subjects where not being part of the hive mind and shaming the witch before burning it, is seen as endorsement of the witch and therefore against the "don't disagree with my personal opinion" rules some mods appear to operate under. ZhugeEX (a regular supplier of interesting sales figures and news from China and Asia) got banned for a bullshit reason too, and then a few posts on the subject were vanished:

I didn't actually get banned for anything specific. I didn't know the "code" of the site, and spoke against Sarkeesian, when she was starting her series.

Looking back at my posts (I just did), I did make a joke saying "this is what happens when you let girls in the clubhouse. Next, they'll have us teasing our hair like Edward Cullen". So, you know...I must have crossed "THE LINE".

To me, that site is kind of a symbol of what is going on with games media. If you don't agree, you're gone.
The Zoe Quinn (god, I didn't want to mention her) story wouldn't have done shit, if every game site, and sites like fucking Reddit and 4Chan didn't act like they were protecting a President's secret location, during a nuclear strike.

Like I said, I actually do hate gamers more then any "sjw". Mainstream gamers are the reason most video games are too easy (and shit) these days.

Mike Z was actually talking about how, when he was working at Pandemic, shitty players at focus tests would default to picking hard mode, and then complain that hard mode that they chose was too hard. It was so bad and so common that they actually had to remove hard modes or lock them till beating the game because people wouldn't stop complaining about their own choices. Think about that.

Gamers aren't dead, but sometimes I wish they were.

Nintendo games could REALLY uses this. I know they want to appeal to kids, but they should really have something in there that can amp up the difficulty to at least Super NES levels.

And you know, that's a debate we're never going to see play out. Most people do want their games easy.
You'll hear the excuse "I'm not a kid anymore, and have kids, and I don't have time for all this trial and error". And then the kids' games are easy...because they are for kids. So, who do you make hard games for? Teens and early 20 year olds?

Platinum and certain games from big companies are good (Souls, Fire Emblem, SMT, etc.), but I haven't been interested in the big and popular console stuff since midway through the ps3 age. It's all just walking simulators/qte movie games/military cover shooters, etc. If Anita and crew want to change some shitty bioware rpg, they can have complete creative of it for all I care.
