Rtings.com is my new favorite place for HDTV reviews, especially if you're interested in using it for gaming.

hdtvtest.co.uk for UK TV's.

This years models aren't reviewed yet. I doubt Australia has any TV's that are exclusive to Australia.. Unless you have Australian brands?
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

You could just use Samsung's sites to compare?

AU: http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/tv-a ... elevision/

US: http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/

The US is also getting a new flat JS (wide color) model soon, the JS7000 series. I don't see it listed on the AU site. If the JS7000 has lower input lag than the JS8500 series, it could be the best flat 4k gaming TV of 2015. As it currently stands, the lowest input lag sets in the US for 2015 appear to be the Samsung JU7500 and JU7100 series. The JU7500 exists in Australia and the JU7100 could be the equivalent of the JU7000 series. However, they don't have the WCG backlight, are curved, and without testing the lag with a Leo Bodnar, are not guaranteed to have the same lag between regions.

The JU7000/7100 seem to be the current top pick, then JS series but that's kind of expensive (ok for cinephiles maybe).

2014 Sony's W7 and W8 (non-Android models ending with letter 'B') are still the best for gaming and all much more affordable, though HD only if that matters.

The KDL55W800B is still oficially sold in AU.

Looks like the 2013 model, discontinued of course, you should triple-check stock availability http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/sony-kdl ... 043162.htm
So yes the lag should be very low, but the IPS panel used by Sony at the time wasn't very satisfying, I remember people complaining a lot about the poor uniformity and black levels (meaning it's not very good at displaying dark scenes in movies and games).

The not-yet-discontinued 2014 model KDL-55W800B I've mentioned in my previous post, is equipped with a VA panel, which means it's much better et displaying dark scenes.
The viewing angles though aren't the best (color shifting if viewed from the sides) but wide enough for a bedroom use IMHO (one to two viewers facing the screen).
It's lag is very low as well though not so much more than the JU/JS Samsungs I believe, unless you have extremely sharp senses.

Depends on how much you are ready to spend for a TV...
