I'm pretty sure wipeout 3 runs in 480i.
Re: List of PS1 games that run in 480i
No, it's showing up as 240p for me. It does seem to have a higher horizontal though running at 512.

Tobal 2 was hi-res as well, wasn't it ? From my recollection still very impressive for it's date.

That would make sense, as that game is 16:9 compatible (I think).austin532 wrote:No, it's showing up as 240p for me. It does seem to have a higher horizontal though running at 512.

Tobal 2 Confirmed. A shame this never get released outside Japan. Then again I don't think Tobal 1 sold very well. It was known as that one game that came with the Final Fantasy VII demo.Fudoh wrote:Tobal 2 was hi-res as well, wasn't it ? From my recollection still very impressive for it's date.

Can anyone confirm Rygar? I'm certain it does, but do not have the game myself.
Re: List of PS1 games that run in 480i
Rygar was never released on the Playstation. Perhaps you are thinking of Rygar The Legendary Adventure for Playstation 2?

Haha, well if it were PS2, we'd be more interested in what games run at 240p, since there are only a handful of those (ICO, Gradius 3... that's all I got).Pasky wrote:Derp, I read this as PS2, my mistake.

Funny you should ask that. I've been working on a list of PS2 games that run in 240p as well.BazookaBen wrote:Haha, well if it were PS2, we'd be more interested in what games run at 240p, since there are only a handful of those (ICO, Gradius 3... that's all I got).Pasky wrote:Derp, I read this as PS2, my mistake.

I remember reading Toshinden 3 having a "high-res" mode. Not sure if that really is 480i though.

"List of PS1 games the run in 480i & PS2 games that run in 240p"
It'd be nice to make a definitive list of games that run in 240p for the PS2 without modification.
Re: List of PS1 games that run in 480i
Uhg....Toshinden 3. My least favorite of the three. No 480i but there is a 60 FPS mode.Triple Lei wrote:I remember reading Toshinden 3 having a "high-res" mode. Not sure if that really is 480i though.

I remember importing Tobal 2 and actually completing that bastard 100%. VERY difficult.austin532 wrote:Tobal 2 Confirmed. A shame this never get released outside Japan. Re: List of PS1 games that natively run in 480i
Been awhile since I posted here but Formula 1 has a High Res mode as well as a Wide Screen mode both which run in 480i.

Torneko runs in 480i.
Re: List of PS1 games that natively run in 480i
Indeed it does. Odd for a sprite based game. Looks like it's one of those games that quickly switches between 480i and 240p.

Hi there.
Sorry for digging up an old topic but Gekioh - Shooting King is 240p and should be removed from the list.

Maybe it's a regional thing? The US version runs in 480i the last time I checked.

Re: List of PS1 games that natively run in 480i
I need to bump Tobal 2 up my play queue.
All of these games that achieved 480i for PS1 gameplay and not just stuff like title and menu screens are a fantastic technological achievement. Nowadays 480i gets knocked down but at the time it was, and still is, a greater resolution than 240p, and can still look amazing on the right display. Going to be keeping an eye on this topic. Thanks for making this list austin532.

Re: List of PS1 games that natively run in 480i
Outside of the intro FMV which I think is 240p, all of Mr. Driller G seems to be 480i.
Though the 2000m and vs. modes (which have a zoomed out playfield) is something else, not sure what. My OSSC thinks they are progressive scan and cuts out every second scanline for a hilariously pixelated image if I don't set it to passthrough.

Re: List of PS1 games that natively run in 480i
The question is: how some of this 512i (480i in NTSC) games run at 50 fps (60 fps in NTSC) while some others run at 25 fps? (30 fps in NTSC) ?
As we talkin' about interlaced video, there were only one field rendered on the screen at the time so:
1. 512i at 25 fps = every two consecutive fields are taken from THE SAME coresponding frame, making it effectively 25 frame per second.
2. 512 at 50 fps - every single field is taken from DIFFERENT frame, hence we have 50 frame per second.
Am I get it right?
