Whats Next From CAVE
Whats Next From CAVE
Since Espgaulda 2 is already out in Arcades and there is eventually going to be Ibara 2 on the horizon. What is next?
I think cave might be working on a Dondopachi Daijou sequel or a Mushihime-Sama sequel.
What do you guys think or do you guys think it will be a new project.
Give me you shout outs, hollar

I faintly recall a statement from Cave stating that the DonPachi series was meant to be a trilogy (aside from DDP2, which they didn't develop), and that they weren't planning to make another one...I might recall incorrectly though.
As far as what might be next, I couldn't guess, really...in any event, we'll know when they decide.

That would be nice. ^_-zak wrote:A PS2 boxed set of their complete works(including a nice A4 art book!)
(I'd prefer an A3 artbook and A1 poster set, though ^_-)
My vote's on Cave producing something that features chaining, lots of pink bullets, and plenty of cleavage.
... Whaaaaat?? Like they haven't been drifting in that direction for some number of years now ^_-

As far as sequels, I wouldn't mind a Guwange II. Other than that I'm kinda tired of the other sequels and would like to see something fresh, mabye even weird, like something non ship based. Maybe something still 2D, but along the lines of Rez, where you are an energy form and you evolve.

There's speculation each way, but after hearing whitey's comment in the other thread, it appears that Black Label is indeed a 100-print run of Ibara with some changes... none of which any one on Earth besides Cave knows specifics on, and Ibara 2 is to come sometime down the road.
I'd love to see Guwnage II or ESPRade II, but I'm very confident that they would not do these sequels w/o Joker Jun. He even mentioned in [ur=http://japan.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ ... d=1301&p=1]that interview[/url] in Continue that he would one day return to the gaming world, and would like to do ESPRade II. Fingers crossed. AFAIK, he's still working on Otogi Matsuri. Not sure how long it's slated for though.

Ibara 2 will be shown at AOU 2006 at the end of february. If it is on the same sort of release schedule that Ibara was on it should get released at the end of June 2006.
Who knows after that......
I am sure they are not done with Mushi. If I had to guess, Mushi 2 is already in development. I am not sure I want any sequals. Something original would be nice.

I would really like them to make another Laputa style adventure in a "classical" setting(like Progear). Or make another horizontal shooter.
Or like I said in other threads, I'd love to see them make a Parodia/Parodius style cute 'em up. Imagine epic Cave bullet storms and blasting through them with cute characters.
I'd also like to see them sign on a composer like Sakimoto, the soundtracks really need more "oomph." You'd think they would be interested in this themselves as they are sponsors of fine music such as jazz concerts (do they sponsor classical concerts too?). Maybe Sakimoto-san commands a high price? Hmmm.

I highly doubt it is only 100, but who knows.zlk wrote:If cave ever released a pcb with a run of only 100 copies, that pcb would sell for an astronimcal amount. Why would they sell it for $2200 when collectors would pay 3x-5x (or maybe more) that amount for the game?
Cave dosen't even consider the crazys like us. They are marketing to arcade operators, and Ibara is an old game now, so not many will be willing to pay $2k for a slightly revised game. (Especially when they can still buy Ibara for less than $800)

Wow, it's hard to imagine that shmups are that mainstream over there. Of course Cave makes PCB's to sell them to arcades. [smacks head] I guess it makes sense; if you're aiming at home gamers you just sell console games. Here in America, well, there are no arcade operators, unless you happen to live by a D&B or GW.whitey wrote:I highly doubt it is only 100, but who knows.zlk wrote:If cave ever released a pcb with a run of only 100 copies, that pcb would sell for an astronimcal amount. If they made 100 and instead of selling to arcade operators marketed to collectors they probably could make 3x-5x more money.

That was also 10 years ago, Cave has come a long way. I don't think sequels they make today make as big as a gameplay jump as they did back in the day.elvis wrote:That's a very broad statement. Instantly I think of DonPachi vs DoDonPachi and know which I prefer.
For example, ESPGaluda is one of my favorite Cave games, and while everything I've seen and heard about ESPG2 makes me think it's better in every way, I would've still perferred the potential of an original game.
I'm pretty sure Cave will make a Mushi 2 soon.
We'll probably also get something original before too long though, I think.

If you check the arcade listings, only about 35 arcades in Japan have DOJ Black Label, so I think there's definitely only 100 copies, and Cave are most certainly also targeting private buyers.whitey wrote:I highly doubt it is only 100, but who knows.

I'm torn. ESPGaluda II is great. To be honest, I would've been just as happy w/o the new kakusei mode. I like the original scoring mode -- it really sucked me in. Mushi's left me a bit dry. Thus, I was happy to see the sequel. But, even after shelling out full price for the kit, I think I can say that I like the original better... only by a small margin though.Dandy J wrote:elvis wrote:For example, ESPGaluda is one of my favorite Cave games, and while everything I've seen and heard about ESPG2 makes me think it's better in every way, I would've still perferred the potential of an original game.

Y'know, I was thinking of the Cave ~Tribute Series~, where Cave select an old-school devteam or an individual programmer, and work closely together with them on a tribute game, like they dd with Ibara and Garegga's head programmer S. Yagawa.
How ace would it be if they worked with a Technosoft prgrammer on the mother of all horizontal shmups? Thunderforce/Hyper Duel speed and gameplay with Cave-like bullet patterns and polish, anyone? ^_^

i dont care too much for sequels, however i would like to see them pick up Outzone again, ormake another horisontal scroller thats not a sequel to progear.
man im still torn between either getting Ibara black label or ibara + espgaluda 2 kits..

the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..
Don't man, just dont!!! Yer making me explode (in a great yet very ugly way) at the thought of that truly magnificent idea.Icarus wrote:Y'know, I was thinking of the Cave ~Tribute Series~, where Cave select an old-school devteam or an individual programmer, and work closely together with them on a tribute game, like they dd with Ibara and Garegga's head programmer S.
