Hey guys, I've been lurking for a while now, but finally registered to show you guys something a bit different I've developed recently and to gain some feedback. If you think this for whatever reason doesn't really qualify to be here, I do apologize,
I've created a game called Vortex which has physics driven movement (forget twin stick) and the goal of the game is to eliminate the other players by sending them enemies for them to combat. It's an indirect versus game.
A full list of pickups is on the Steam Greenlight page if interested. I got 7 different offensive and 4 defensive pickups total.
Feel free to check out the trailer and gameplay video and tell me what you think!!
Neat concept for a VS shmup. Only complaint I'd make based on the gameplay video - don't bother with sound effects for the player bullets. You're going to be shooting constantly, and all you can hear is a constant TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP. It's a really grating percussive sound. I'd suggest really softening it or muting player shots outright, and only bother with sounds for actual powerups, enemy explosions, etc. You can also help emphasize the music more this way.
Totally agree with the 'roo, I couldn't make it more than ten seconds into the gameplay portion of the vid due to the constant DIB DIB DIB DIB DIB DIB DIBaaaaaaaaaaaargh

Imagine a spilled cup of coffee totalling your dick and balls in one shot, sounds like the setup to a Death Wish sequel.

That's actually a real good point, i've gotten so used to playing the game over and over again that I've gotten used it. I will try to fix it to make it really subtle. Thanks for the suggestion!
Vortex is officially out of alpha, all features (2-4 players, improved graphics, fixes, etc...) have been implemented.
I've edited the original post to include the new trailer and gameplay footage.
It's also available in the Groupees Greenlight Bundle 26 if anyone is interested. Link
