Good third-party PS1 controllers??...

Post by dave4shmups »

I'm just looking for something made by a solid company that has a bigger D-Pad on it then the original PS1 controller, for my modded PS1. Any suggestions would be welcome! :D

Might want to look into getting one of the Saturn-style pads.

Failing that, a genuine Saturn pad, hacked to NeoGeo pinout and then passed into a hacked PS1 controller.

Yeah, I use the Saturn pad most of all. Another decent one is the ascii Guilty Gear reload pad. I also like the Street Fighter Anniversary pad.

I got the Street Fighter Anniversary pad (Chun-Li) for sale.

One New and one used. Feel free to PM me an offer.

Thanks guys, but those are all PS2 controllers, not PS1 controllers-unless they also work on the PS1.

Every PS2 controller works on the PS1. There's a few nice JP Hori controllers for the PS as well with interconnected-style d-pads.

Ahh, that's nice; I didn't know that! :D Well, as far as controllers with interconnected-style d-pads, which is obviously what I'm after, the PS2 Saturn Pad seems to be the most highly regarded. But I've seen pictures of it, and the buttons are mapped just like a "regular" Saturn controller, so that might present a problem.

Off the top of my head I don't think there are many shooters on PS1 that absolutely require anything other than the four face buttons found on a normal PS1. Chances are they have a button config option. Just remember to save your game and you shouldn't have any problems afterwards.
