Toshiba A66JLH090X replacement

Post by plasticxo »

I am seeking expertise on changing the tube in my Pony Jaleco MkII 28, which turns out to be an original Toshiba A66JLH090X working with a Toei TC-RM281J chassis. The screen is working fine, but is severely burnt.
I could try to find a Hantarex Polo 2 28 for a swap but I'd rather keep the original Toei chassis for the sake of turning the screen easily.

As I read everything and nothing on the internet about tube swapping, I seek the advice of someone who could help me trace a compatible tube ? (I'm in Europe).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :D

I'm hoping that there is a 28" tube out there that shares the specs of the original Toshiba screen.
Some people have found replacement tubes in Televisions and kept their original chassis for their cabs, so I guess this tube is not one of a kind.
I'd like to translate the reference and see what could fit.
Most of the MKII 28 I see in Europe have Hantarex monitors and chassis.

Have you measured the inductance or at least the resistance of the yoke? Since it's for a Nanao MS8 monitor I would expect it to be in the same range as the MS8-26, i.e. very low on H (0.4-0.5mH) and very high on V (80-90mH). It's pretty much impossible to find a TV tube with both these values so I would start from one with a similar vertical scan coil and adapt the horizontal one to the desired value by putting a coil in parallel.

Either that or a yoke swap.

Thanks for the advice, I'll do that for a start.
And may I ask where should I do my measures ?
