Can you order one of those BGC bluray sets? I didn't back the kickstarter when I should have.

The One Punch PV is out. A couple glimpses of the poor innocent monsters can be seen. It can be a lot of fun as long as they don't pad it out too much.
Also watched this adorable little yootoob by some lady finally. I am slowness of internet.

^ Miyazaki knows what's up.
On that note, after Chaos;Child bombed horribly after they had the cunning plan to make a game for Japanese people on a console none of them owned*, Steins;Gate is getting a sequel. Because they like the money and head pats that follow when they do that sort of thing. I am 38% excite.
Complete approval that they're not starting off from the super happy ending path and taking a forked universe. It'd be too contrived if they started off from a point where everything was already wrapped up, and they'd have to tear everything up or have nowhere to go.
* Ok ok; they're releasing ports on platforms humans own, and have the mandatory animu that has to come out and be mediocre and make us all ask "why isn't this Steins;Gate? ***IBM*** gave us some Steins;Gate, why can't you?!?!"

finished Stone Ocean - I thought it was amazing, though I probably just about prefer Diamond Is Unbreakable. Read both volumes of Gundam: UC Hardgraph - great gritty-ish stories told from Zeek Wappa pilot's perspective, and a completely amazing callback to 0079 that I didn't see coming till the very end (I shant spoil it).
Finished rewatch of Turn A Gundam - liked it even more this time, now possibly up there with Gainer as my favourite ever Tomino.
In contrast to that, now that it's fully over, depressingly I have to admit to myself that G-Reco was a mess, and the amazing revelation I was hoping for in the last few episodes never came for me. The art and music and atmosphere were brilliant throughout, but the story was just completely not engrossing. A lot of the characters I never gave any shits about, for example the 'Char' in it, is never really properly fleshed out at all.
Read Tales Of Eccentrics by JJBA guy, I very enjoyed it, it reminded me of 'Ripley's Believe It... Or Not' cartoons you sometimes see in newspapers

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Just marathoned the first season of Gundam Build Fighters.
It was fun. Ample references to fucking everything [EVERYTHING!], generally good fights, and it succeeded in it's primary objective: to be a fucking Gunpla commercial and now I fucking want to get and build my own, even if I know I can't fight 'em like in the show.
silly things: it bothered me whenever the Gundam heads came off, entirely because I kept thinking about Gundam Fight Rule 1: A unit whose head section has been destroyed is disqualified.
even though that's not a rule at all here and it's a very, very different competition, haha
I started watching the second season as well, why is Sekai almost the fucking same person as Reiji?
Like, he is literally "Reiji Mk.II: now with 300% more martial arts!" as far as I've seen.
Still, it's been decent so far, but I've heard it's got more issues than the first season. I do like the fact that Sekai goes around punching and kicking the shit his opponents, none of that ranged nonsense.
probably not going to watch Victory after this, but I'll watch it eventually
I'm going to finish X [I still haven't bothered watching past the first episode though...] and then watch G Reco, even with it being as incomprehensible as everyone says it is.

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Sort of interested in picking up Gundam Build Fighters, but I'm slightly worried I haven't seen nearly enough Gundam to get the references etc
How accessible is the show, or rather, how much better does it become if you're in the know?
Otherwise, I'm slowly starting to watch things again. Most of my stuff is still crammed into boxes, but luckily I can continue working my way through Patlabor: The New Files since it was in the upper utmost layer of said boxes
Also tried watching a few episodes of Mahoromatic - seems quite cozy so far (and surprisingly service-y) but I get this feeling of...lingering doom? with the whole "x amount of days left until deactivation"-thing. Kinda reminds me of the way Yawara! always ended with the remaining days left until the Olympics.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Unfortunately BF Try isn't nearly as fun as the first series IMO, then again I definitely have a UC bias and there isn't as much UC mecha and references in it, so that might be part of it for me :p.
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Heh, I actually finished watching Yawara! a little while ago. Very entertaining, though the ending felt rushed, it could've used one more episode to tie things up more smoothly. And the way the Atlanta OAV seemed to forget/contradict the main series' ending was odd.Ji-L87 wrote:Kinda reminds me of the way Yawara! always ended with the remaining days left until the Olympics.

Yeah, it's pretty good. Can't remember how far I watched - I think it was 50 or so episodes but I was watching a fansub, I see now there's a DVD box out there. Maybe I'll pick it up sometime...Ghegs wrote:Heh, I actually finished watching Yawara! a little while ago. It was the show's fantastic openings that made me watch it. The songs are catchy and the animations are equally brilliant.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
The last ep of G-Reco was so anti-climactic, I still don't get what Trollmino was thinking with this series. It was fun tho.
I quite enjoyed Shibako, hope it gets a second season.
The Spring animu season is coming next week, your choices? I'll be watching Gintama, Robot Girls Z Plus (the first mini series was so fucking hilarious), Lupin III, and maybe give Arsland Senki, the not-Haruhi one, Kekkai Sensen and Kyoani's shit a chance.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Finished up Knights of Sidonia last week, I liked it despite being heavily flawed. The finale failed to answer any questions the show raised like:
Also... Nagate was not an appealing protagonist for me.. he was too much of a weenie, even after the final episode, he was still this wimpy wet noodle. Some parts of the dub were eye-rollingly bad.
Having said all that, the show was pretty, and I really liked the concept and art direction.
Spoiler
Where did the Guana come from? How did the council become immortal and why? What happened to the other human ships?
Spoiler
killing the huge Guana in

I loved the first season. Second one, not so much. Too focused on tournament matches. But the mechas are really good, like the first season.Ji-L87 wrote:Sort of interested in picking up Gundam Build Fighters, but I'm slightly worried I haven't seen nearly enough Gundam to get the references etc![]()

yes that was by far the best bit of BF Try so farsoprano1 wrote: Sekai and Hoshino singing Anime Ja Nai made me smile

I'm too lazy to do a spoiler tag, but from what I can remember, I think basically it is sorta implied that Biomega manga is a precursor to it. Annoyingly never directly enough from what I've read of the |KoS manga so far. However, it could just be me clutching at straws in my own head canonbroken harbour wrote:Finished up Knights of Sidonia last week, I liked it despite being heavily flawed. Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I've been in and out of Anime. Been watching the basics like Bleach and Naruto, but I've been watching some like Jormungand and Durarara! The new(er-ish) one I've been watching is Yowamushi Pedal.
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Just watched last episode of Gundam Build Fighters Try. I hate it when they cram too much cool stuff in 20 minutes.
Also, the master of the Jigen Haoh School is shown. It is who we suspected, although it makes no fucking sense, as Gundam is fiction in the series...
Also thought Sei would make an appearance, but i guess they are leaving that for the sequel, if they make one.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
It was definitely my favourite of this series, then again that ain't saying much - it didnt make sense who the master was but still I really liked it and it was drawn really well - also I mean Mr Ral is in there so why not?
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Hmmm, not familiar with that one. Manga looks awesome. That OVA though...

Been searching out a few of these recommendations but it's proving much harder to find horror comics than I expected. However last night I finally ran into some new copies of Fuan no Tane and picked it up. This series is awesome, exactly the kind of thing I wanted to read. Thanks for the recommendation. Mine is titled "Fuan no Tane Plus" though, is there a series that precedes it or is it just some sort of expanded reprint?KAI wrote:Fuan no TaneACSeraph wrote:Any (horror) recommendations?
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
It's the sequel of the first 3 volumes.
Talking about manga, I've been reading Black Jack ni Yoroshiku. The medical world is so full of shit, I love it.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I've been reading quite a bit of Jaja Uma Grooming Up!. I really like Masami Yuuki's drawing style and so far it's been entertaining and interesting. Nothing mindblowing, but I like simpler, easy to enjoy stuff like this
When I first read the premise (I guess it's a bit similar to Silver Spoon, which I haven't read/seen) I wasn't interested at all (I'm a city boy, farms just aren't my thing), but things like that can be deceiving. That kind of reminds me of Moyashimon, whose anime I really enjoyed despite an odd-sounding premise.

It's kind of weird to think that a comic book could bring up issues to reform, but, Japan is a magical place full of wonder and magic. And chikans.
The dark world of sumo is also pretty messed up. Just about everything's corrupt when you actually bother to look at it.
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Just finished rewatch of The Cockpit OVAs - just as brilliant as I remembered them.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
The 3 episodes are brilliant - the first is my favourite - especially the ending.
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
And here i was thinking i had seen everything by Leiji Matsumoto!
I finished watching it after seeing these last posts, stuff is great. Wonder if he got any flak for these back in the 90's.
