No word on whether Platinum is developing. I would guess KojiPro has passed it off to a different team, since Platinum is tied up with Scalebound at the moment.

I doubt that. They can make more than one game at a time.

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker
Fire Emblem
Langrisser Rebirth (Yeah, I really like my tactics games.)
Etrian Mystery Dungeon
Metal Gear Solid V
Mortal Kombat X

Hmm. Mostly handheld stuff. Guess the PS3 and 360 are getting pretty tired.

Yeah, my tastes pretty much line up with MR_Soren. Though, I'd replace Mortal Kombat on this list with a jrpg or whatever Halo is coming out. And I hope there's some pokemon-related something by year's end.

Yeah, awesome news... I hope. Original artist and dev team are not involved, but it looks similar to the 16-bit Langrisser games. Hope it turns out well and comes to the US. I just can't believe they're finally making one. Been waiting ages.

Yes, I think we've often had similar gaming preferences in past discussions from when I was new here and more active.

Speaking of JRPGs, Persona 5 was another game I was looking forward to in 2015. Slipped my mind. Haven't played a non-tactical JRPG that didn't come from Atlus in a long time. What's good there? When I look, I mostly see stuff like Fairy Fencer F that has a really mixed response, and I can't convince myself that it is worth the time and money. I want something with some strategy to the combat. Nocturne was awesome. I've been hearing Resonance of Fate is good.

Even though this is a shmups site, there are no shmups on my list. Mostly due to a lack of new releases on consoles I own. Raiden V sounds promising, but I'm not going to buy an XB1 anytime soon. Rising Star Games just started asking questions about shmups on Twitter today. Maybe they've got something coming?

I would be VERY wary about the new Langrisser. It's an MMO-style PC game by a Taiwanese company that snapped up the license. It is also unlikely to be released outside of East Asia, as Gamania has formally closed their US and European operations. The game has an English site, but it is meant for places like Hong Kong and Singapore.

Only real point of interest is that Noriyuki Iwadare is back for another soundtrack. But freemium trash will continue to be freemium trash.

There's more than one new Langrisser coming out. The 3DS Langrisser is completely different and seems to be in the style of the classic series.

Persona 5 is coming in 2015? But there is no gameplay footage yet... oh wait nvm.

Add that to my PS4 list then (almost forgot it was PS4 and started thinking about what the crowds in that trailer would do to framerate).

Weird that so far, Japanese developers have been behind the most interesting PS4 games (I felt it was the opposite for PS3).

oh shiii-

I hope the scenario gets a little broader this time. The escalation in Persona 2 of reality basically coming apart at the seams was always wonderfully zany. That there's an equipment slot for a weapon and a gun is very old timey.

Hurm, the PSX3 version might be able to handle it. If it were less smexier.

Azure Striker Gunvolt and Mighty Gunvolt, as those still haven't come out here in Europe.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, which I already threw money at. Pirate's Curse was released over here today, so that was a game I was looking forward to in 2015.

Everybody's Protect Me Knight: Princess's Heart-Throbbing Rhapsody, which is out in Japan and just hoping it'll reach the planet Europe this year (it's confirmed that it's going to be localized. But looking at first Shovel Knight, then Shantae and now Gunvolt, the time it takes for games to make it from just US to EU eShop some times is straight up catastrophic).

Other games I was looking forward to but have already started playing: Gunman Clive 2 (not as good as the first one), Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell (beaten this already).
My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself

Azure Striker Gunvolt was super disappointing imo. Only Mega Man game I've never felt compelled to even finish.

I hope it's more Demon's than Dark Souls. Pending reviews (Edge) I'll probably pick up a PS4 for it.

No reviews needed for me. Day I see that game in stores is the day I buy it along with a PS4. I'm sure it'll be at least good enough. If not. Well, at least I finally decided to get a next gen console. :p

.... What do you mean by more like Demon Souls then Dark Souls? Anything in particular? ie. you prefer hub world over metroidvania connected world? Atmosphere & graphics? These are two things that I recall folks bring up when they talk preferring Demon Souls.

Dark Souls lacked some of the atmosphere and spectacle Demon's had, it felt more austere and less welcoming.
Maybe that was the point?
I enjoyed it, I can't knock it that much apart from a few frame-rate issues here or there.
It didn't have a Tower of Latria.

Demon's Souls has a bit longer checkpoints too which is more in line with my interests.

I'm looking forward to:

Xenoblade Chronicles X
Fire Emblem If
Code Name S.T.E.A.M

Other things too but those most come to mind.

I noticed the stages in DeS has more personality & props (stage 2-1 is the best example of this). But I can't blame the dev team for these lacking more in DaS because the game is much bigger in size, so adding enough unique things to each stage would of been way too much work. Still, the way the game feels like one big metroid connected world (that actually matches perfectly when someone 3d mapped the game) makes up for it quite a bit to me personally (seeing the lava stage & that very short stage from that dark cave was one heck of revelation to me).

DeS was also supposed to have one more stage that was scrapped due to the extra dev time required. So I'm sure that helped the team flesh out the current stages more too... but man I still so wish that stage would of made it in. It should of been a DLC... some dropped stuff made it to DaS anyway. Like the Serpent Men.

I guess really only the following 2 at the moment:

Legend of Iya (PC)
Steins;Gate (PS3)

Been far more concerned with filling gaps in my back-catalog.

Does anybody have information on The Order: 1886? The ads playing on YouTube have turned me off more than a bit. It sounds and looks like just another Call of Duty, complete with radio chatter, just supposedly in a different time period, and with monsters.

I started playing around with my old Phantom Dust disc again - never took it online - and I found that there's a remake coming. Same story, but with a 30 hour singleplayer campaign and gameplay tweaks.

Gameplay footage on youtube says... Steampunk Gears of War. With loads and loads of cutscenes.

Hard to believe this was announced with an atmospheric trailer, then 2 years later the game's finally here and it's a Gears reskin.

Speaking of this, Unreal Tournament 2 on the Xbox might be patient zero for this "time honored tradition"

On another front, the DLC battle rages on as ever:
