According to the Internet Movie Cars Database, it's an '86 Pontiac Fiero.

Fiero's are rear-engined cars, so lately a lot of them are getting chopped up and made into terrible looking home-made lamborghinis and Ferraris.

Who doesn't want to own a Lamorghini Countach?
The replica doesn't look that bad, the front is shaved off too much and the doors are all wrong but otherwise, if I built it myself, I would be proud to drive around in it.

The 1988 final model year is actually a really decent little track car. If you ever see one for sale, grab it.
But yeah, a lot of them are getting hacked up for kit cars, sadly. I guess they're cheaper than MR2s for that purpose, but are becoming pretty rare.

That Countach is a thing of beauty.
The hacked up Fiero, though...well, it looks like somebody got the offspring of an APC and a tunnel borer, put the driver's seat in backwards, and glued on some black rubber. No disrespect for the skills required to make it, but I feel vaguely unsettled just looking at the thing.
