Got this in the mail today and my initial impressions are... bad. Kiken and BulletMagnet summed up my feelings pretty well. However, I can't stress enough how horrendous the audio mixing is. The SFX are waaay too loud with the treble cranked up too high. Every single shot feels like a bullet straight through my ears and it completely drowns the music in Karous for example. Also, lowering the SFX volume in the main options menu seems to only lower it in Mixture Mode for some reason.

Not sure if this mentioned but there's also occasional slowdown when you close the message dialogues in Radirgy.

I would not recommend this to anyone unless you are collecting import shmups for your 360.

^Same

I picked this up because the only milestone game I owned was Radirgy and I figured it was a cheap option for being able to at least play the games. In that sense I guess it's serviceable.

It gives me the impression that maybe it wasn't finished. The SFX thing, lack of tate etc. I'm guessing the falling out over at milestone happened in the final cleanup phase for the port, and the result was that it just got shipped out as-is. Really unfortunate, it could have been a really great collection.

I've had this for a while and I haven't even fired it up yet because I'm too busy playing something else that's lasting me ages, as long as I can play Karous and Illvelo I'll be happy, I'll just have to stick cotton wool in my ears.

You should try shooting love 200X since you have a J console. Perhaps you'll discover that you like Triangle Service and your disappointment with Milestone will subside.

Who is into Milestone anyway? I hear someone from Argentina coming....

Not when they put out garbage ports like this one with meager leaderboard options and no tate. I was willing to give them a chance, never again.

I am actually curious about that one and the one with the red penguin on the cover. Thanks for the recommendation!

I know Illvelo's good and I've only played 10 credits, still too busy with Guided Fate Paradox.

Wait a minute, I'm coming to the realization that this could be the final shmup release on the 360.....I would have been content with Ge-Sen Love plus Pengo being the last release.

With that said, I think we need just one more release from a shmup developer on the 360. :|

I could put up with the loading times and whatnot, but no tate is the ultimate kick in the dick. Really hoping this gets patched up at some point to at least fix that issue.

I've always been a fan of Karous and Radirgy, and it's pretty cool to be able to finally play Illvelo, too.

I haven't touched this since the week I bought it. I'll probly put some more time into it one of these days, but it's not exactly calling out to me. The sound issue is worse for me than any of the other issues the port has; it's horrible, in Karous all you hear is this grating machine gun noise and absolutely nothing else. I have no idea what the music in the game is like.

I love the music in the first stage of Karous. Shame you can't hear it.

The sound is screwed, but you can adjust it to be tolerable in the options. Karous seems OK with SFX on 4 and music on 10.
Illvelo is unfortunately the worst offender, even with SFX on 0 and music maxed, the effects are still too loud.

Anyone playing Mixture Mode? Annoyingly, it seems like only one track plays through the whole game.

Absolutely zero chance. Klon and Sakura Flamingo parted ways before it was released.

So, Milestone Collection 2 for Wii is working much better or having audio issues too?

Definitely no for everyone.
k.h.d.n. made some of best of the best shmup soundtracks ever (and are rare examples of vgm touching such genres as gabber, breakcore and idm). hm, reminds me how people didn't get Armored Core: Last Raven's awesome ost.

Milestone Collection 2 doesn't have any notable audio issues, and also has tate mode; definitely the better option if your Wii can play Japanese games (which can be soft-modded, it's not terribly hard to do if you follow a set of instructions).

MSC2 is not without its faults, too, though.
Radirgy, Karous and Illvelo all play fine but (on my PAL Wii at least) Chaos Field and Radirgy Noa don't save config and high-scores. Well, technically, they do but if you play another game and then come back to one of those two, saves are wiped out.

You'll also find out that most of the games are barebones arcade ports and bonus modes from previous console versions are lacking. No Original Mode in Chaos Field, no Manpuku/Owakari mode in Radirgy, no Illvelo Still mode and Radirgy Noa only has the Expand mode and none of the other modes from Massive.

Illvelo does have the additional modes featured in its Wii standalone release though (Easy/Hard/Special), probably because they just copy-pasted its content from that release to the collection.

That said, I would still recommend it, as it is a convenient way to try and play all 5 Milestone shmups, and because the 3 best have no deal-breaking issues.

Thanks for info  Does MSC2 have booklet with fancy pictures or something? Or separate releases of ports?

The game has a booklet indeed, as do all Wii games IIRC. It is quite colorful and has sections dedicated to each game. If you want to have an idea of what it looks like, I took a few quick pictures of it :

As for the disc, all 5 shmups are in one single disc. The compilation's main menu allows you to select the game you want to play as well as the TATE or YOKO mode and all games have an option to return to this menu in case you want to play another one.
