Prehistoric Isle 2

The Computer Age vs. The Jurassic Age!

Welcome to the Prehistoric Isle 2 high score thread!

Thanks to lgb for maintaining the previous thread.

Rules:
Please play at difficulty level 4. For now there is only a 'Hero Style' table. When denoting ship type, for the purposes of this board, straight shot is Type A, wide shot is Type B. If people want to play 'Life Style', we can open a new table below.

To clarify:
Hero Style: Player has lives
Life Style: Player has 'health bar'

Please format scores like this:
STYLE - SHIP TYPE
NAME - SCORE - STAGE - RESCUED TOTAL - INITIALS - AUTOFIRE YES/NO

For example:
Life Style - Type A
Meatloaf - 6,666,666 - 2 - 06 - MLF - NO

And now... from the brink of extinction... the scores:

Ball rolling to start!

Scored this on MVS using my arcade stick autofire button mod (courtesy of yosai):

Hero - Type A
spadgy - 26,704,400 - ST4 - 09 - OTA - YES

Credit ended on that stupid green vine that I did realise was a collidable.

EDIT: Updated OP.

Nice one! A Type-B score. If I get a chance this weekend, I'll try and give you some company on that table!

Can you open a table for the first game (Prehistoric Isle in 1930)?

You'd be welcome to create one Laus! :) Or I could add it here and make this thread 'Prehistoric Isle 1 and 2'. Let me know Laus. If you want to chart a new high score thread, go for it. If not no worries. As score submissions for both games would likely come in fairly occasionally, perhaps a shared shrewd is best.

Wow that's an incredible score using Type B, I find that pilot to be horrible for scoring!

Where do I see number rescued? I recorded my 1cc, but don't see that number anywhere (played on MVS - US).

I am 96% certain that the Japanese cabinet defaults to life style. I would like to create a new high score thread to reflect this, placing health style first and hero style second, however because Icarus doesn't seem interested in updating the index, I have to ask myself what's the point?

The index thread isn't the only way to find high score threads, you know...

NTSC-J: You know STGs are in trouble when you have threads on how to introduce them to a wider audience and get more people playing followed by threads on how to get its hardcore fan base to play them, too.

It isn't, but its a much easier & convenient solution for finding & submitting scores compared to having to dig through search results for a number of updated game threads/ lesser-played games. Multiple people I know have expressed this same concern ( along with not updating the links), but its frustrating not to even get a response in personal pms to mods & makes me want to consider placing new scoreboards/ strat threads elsewhere at this moment.

If you make the thread, I’ll attempt a 1cc on JP bios as well.

I can confirm that lifebar style is the Japanese default.

Regarding scores / index, I agree that it’s a bit of a shame that it isn’t very maintained.

Actually no. I played through it on Japanese MVS now, and there's no health bar. Looks like that is AES only.

Anyways, got a slightly better score.

I'm almost positive I had 20 rescued, I have to double check the cabinet next time I'm at Galloping Ghost Arcade (I think it retains the scores after power cycles).
