Apparently Konami has begun issuing C&Ds regarding the custom Programmed World servers?

It's confirmed from number of sources, but no word on PSun yet...cj iwakura wrote:Apparently Konami has begun issuing C&Ds regarding the custom Programmed World servers?
I hope something good comes out of this, because I've been hearing rumors that more R1s are opening up around the US.

Probably because Konami are planning to expand their services.

I really doubt they actually mean "global". It seems too early to make assumptions anyway, best to wait for more clarification.

Would better English language-skills help Japanese developers understand how absolutely dumb they are in terms of marketing & audiences?
Re: beatmania IIDX thread
Went to the Sunnyvale Golfland today to have a peek, most of the bemani games are dead as a result. I'm not much of a bemani person, but I could feel the despair and realize this hits hard. I do hope this means some good things, would be a shame if this was for nothing positive.

Were any of them still up? That was my go-to when dragged there for mini-golf.
Re: beatmania IIDX thread
Besides local arcades, the only places that really support the latest IIDX on the official eAmusement network are the Round1s in California, Texas, and Illinois. Could be that Konami only wants their games exclusively through them, but we'll have to wait and see if that's the case.

Re: beatmania IIDX thread
Local arcade still had IIDX up and running sans e-Amuse, but it had reverted to Resort Anthem. Seems that was the final version that could be played offline without needing constant authentication. Pop'n Music was still on the newest iteration, probably because it uses older hardware.
They're going to ask Konami about getting a license to use the official e-Amuse network once they move to their new location. Not sure how successful they or anyone else will be.
Barring that, there is supposed to be a new Round1 opening in MA in 2016.

I can't get behind remixers who make the melodies of instrumental tracks into a vocal part. I'm not sure that has ever worked out. So I think Nekomata wins that one by default. Konami agreed so they gave his track the Eirin with an unbelievable chest.

Totto's a genius for not dirtying his hands on Necrofantasia's utterly shit melody and letting 3L have it instead. I think it worked out nicely in this case.CStarFlare wrote:I can't get behind remixers who make the melodies of instrumental tracks into a vocal part.

Re: beatmania IIDX thread
Right after we get the news about Cave on PC, here comes Konami with an alpha test of Infinitas, a PC-based version of IIDX: http://p.eagate.573.jp/game/eac2dx/infi ... n/top.html
It's not clear exactly what this is going to be in its final form since Konami has a survey up that asks for player opinions, but some of the options they present in the survey include standard product pricing with DLC, monthly subscription, or even pay-per-credit. People seem to be saying that the judgement timing felt pretty good, so it seems to be a decent port.

I just hope that, if this comes out in a finished form, it'll be somewhat simple to use outside of Japan, like PSO2. I assume that actual localized versions are probably too much to hope for, but Konami has done some things with their arcade games in America very recently, so who knows.

It's been a pretty crazy month on the PC for our kind of people. Lots of exciting shooter news (Dariusburst, Cave, Qute) and now Bemani? Consoles are seeming less necessary by the day.

I was lucky enough to get in the second Alpha for Infinitas.
Pro:
Gorgeous interface
Con:
Real, real crappy songlist.
Still, the potential is through the roof. Here's hoping.

Re: beatmania IIDX thread
I got to play an actual IIDX cabinet (Pendual) for the first time a few weeks ago at the TooManyGames con nearby; it was pretty awesome, I was glued to it for a few hours straight, and I was happy to see the hand cramping "arcade hybrid style" BMS keyboard layout I was using let me transition almost immediately to an actual controller.
Lately I've been playing a lot of LR2, mainly some Spada songs (couldn't find BGAs unfortunately, but it saves HDD I suppose), I've been getting pretty decent at acing most normal level songs. Might download some Tricoro BMS files soon (can't find anything newer than Spada, although to be fair I haven't been searching very hard).
Having a basic keyboard with ghosting is really hindering my play though.
I heard Round 1 is breaking into the east coast gradually, hopefully a Pennsylvania location will open up soon...

Is playing on keyboard really any fun? I can't imagine it holds up after playing in a real cabinet.
I suggest getting a controller. Real scratching is super fun.

Re: beatmania IIDX thread
Eh, it's serviceable.
Having other keys constantly brush up against my fingers bugs me, the keys are smallish compared to the real thing, ghosting is a major pain in the ass, and of course the lack of turntable takes a bit away from the experience.
I did have the chance to buy a Japanese PS2 IIDX controller at the con, but I wasn't sure if Iwas ready to drop $100 for it. Kind of wonder if I made the right choice...
Oh well, someday...

Just FYI, PA is getting a Round 1 in Exton. Not the right part of the state for me, but hopefully it is for you!
