Madcatz 360 arcade stick -> PC driver issues

Post by Pretas »

I recently replaced my dead PC with a new one (still running Win 7), only to find that my Madcatz SFIV TE Model 1 360 stick is no longer supported. It isn't even recognized as a game controller by Windows anymore, and the devices menu labels it as unknown. When I plug it in, the guide button flashes a couple times then goes dark. Windows Update tried to automatically find drivers for it, but failed. A manual search turned up nothing but drivers for Madcatz pads (not sticks).

I also tried installing Xpadder and Microsoft's official Xbox 360 Accessories Manager, neither of which recognized it either.

What's going on here? My stick definitely isn't broken and still functions perfectly with a 360. I never had to manually install any special drivers on my old PC or use any intermediary keymapping program (except for games without proper joypad support). I assume the correct drivers were taken off Microsoft's servers; are they still floating around somewhere?

  1. Does a stock wired Xbox 360 controller work on the PC? Once I installed a driver to get an Hori Gem Pad EX to work on a PC - while the Gem Pad worked it also knocked out the standard Xbox 360 driver and Xbox 360 controller support with it.
  2. Does your new PC use Nvidia hardware while your old one didn't? The PS3 version of the Madcatz sticks seems to have problems in this area and who is to say that newer Nvidia chipsets won't have the same effect on the older 360 models of the Madcatz sticks.

Will my FightStick work on my PC?

The Xbox 360 version of the FightStick will work on a PC using the drivers Microsoft provides for their wired Xbox 360 controller. You can find the Xbox 360 controller drivers here http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us ... ws#support.

The PS3 SFIV TE/SE FightStick and FightPad does not officially support the PC, but it should work with PCs that do not make use of a NVIDIA® chipset. If a workaround is discovered, we will post more information for you here.

1. Yes, a stock wired 360 controller is recognized by Xbox 360 Accessories.
2. No, it's Intel. My old PC was AMD. Both have been running 64-bit Win 7.

For Win7 64 & xbox360 arcade stick use, I use the xbcd driver package found here http://www.mediafire.com/download/32e45 ... _0.2.7.exe

You can change the settings from analog to d-pad stick for different steam and mame shmups.

TE 1 and 2 use PCB that is known to have problems with non Intel USB interfaces. I would swap a PS360+ in.

Have you tried putting it behind a usb extension/splitter? - sounds odd but has worked for a few xp aged devices that didn't seem to work on win8 (at least straight away).

He's running Win7 though, which should not cause the USB issue.

I had the same prob with Win 8.1, it's due to USB power saving "features" that don't work well with generic devices like standard gamepads.
I was able to fix it by modifying some obscure windows registry setting.

Late reply but installing this solved the problem; thank you.
