I'm not playing it at the moment but DDP is a really fun game and I recently discovered some places where I can definitely improve on my chaining routes.
So I'll probably 2-ALL it eventually haha.
cool!

I guess I need an update too.

Erppo - 355,745,520 - C-S - 2-7 - 827
Shmupmame 4.2 input. Again, uses the C button.

Two deaths in 1-5 which is sort of silly. Enough random deaths to make sure I didn't have enough resources to beat 2-7 (I did it pretty poorly too) but many other parts of this were rather good. Mainly 2-5 and 2-6, I'm pretty sure this is the first time I got the 2-6 no-miss bonus.

this is a serious score Erppo! I'm really happy to see this here and with C-S too :D
Congratulations and respect to you Erppo!!

*goes off to watch replay*

Edit : unfortunately I'm not successful at getting my computer to run this replay. It says it can't open the file as a valid input file, using ShmupMAME 4.2 (tried both 64 and 32bit versions). Any idea? :[ !

I think that can happen sometimes if you try to load an input from somewhere else than the "inp" directory. Putting the file in ...\Mamedirectory\inp\ should solve it.

Also thanks!

Yup that worked! Often it really isn't obvious how to make a replay work. I think it's good to include instructions and/or files if you'd like more people to be able to watch your replay. I think it's a good way to help "forum lurkers" to understand and enjoy the games better as well. But of course that's up to you, just saying !

••• Spoiler Alert •••

Back to topic of that game. This is a great run here. To me it seems you are good at staying focused and not panic, good knowledge and general game plan. I find this replay gives a good sense of your high skill versus the high difficulty of the game, as DDP in my opinion sometimes looks easier than it really is. Death is at every corner in DDP due to the speed and most importantly slightly larger hitbox (for ship & bullets, compared to later danmakus), so I am not surprised to see a good player like you miss @end of 1-5 that way and the other places. Despite those, you really kept a consistent and focused game throughout and that is both important and difficult to do in my opinion.

Many of the more difficult tricks of the game are shown here, such as 2-4 boss bug, 1-5 chain, surviving some of those harder boss patterns, etc. Many cool Type C-Shot chaining moments in there as well which is always refreshing, fun and interesting to watch. The MAX bonus went on and off a few times and you did a good job of keeping it alive even after you lost it and it wasn't so high anymore, in such a way that you still got a lot of point off of it - up until the end of the game ! It would be perfect if you managed to do the same kind of thing by bombing instead of dying, for example, so that MAX bonus is only -1 instead of reset when you grab new bomb, which would give you a lot more points and be even extra stylish. I see with your current ability you can 2-ALL with over 400M points. Do you have this or another future target in mind ?

••• End of Spoiler Alert •••

Again, congratulations and respect. I recommend this replay to any DDP/danmaku lover :]
Erppo ftw!

I guess at least 400M would be nice, and something I'm probably pretty close to already. I just started playing the game again thanks to this but have been pretty short on time after that. Now it seems like I'll have some more time to play so I'll probably try to get something better out of this.

DDP is kind of the game where I periodically return to see how much better I've gotten since last time. :D

If you press F12 to take a screenshot while MAME is paused, it should take the picture in true colour (without the darkened effect) as opposed to taking it via printscreen.

Didn't do as well as my previous stage progression. But mainly, I just wanted to cross the 4th stage with a better score than the previous one. Also, good to get into the 100M club (if such a thing exists.. heh)

Maybe later, I will try to equal the previous progression with a better score (than the current one).

Lives lost:
1-6 stage
1-6 boss last pattern
2-2 boss
2-3 boss (2 lives)
2-4 boss
2-5 stage after the initial section

Hey - welcome to the forum! Your post didn't appear as we always have a human mod (yep; we're humans!) approve a user's first post, so we can catch out bots, spammers etc. Your post is approved, so now you can post and PM and such freely!

I still have a few questions. Do you frequently update the high score board ? If so, do you need one screenshot of my PB ? I'm asking because I submitted it in my first post and cannot see it in the board. I don't know how it works.

The OP (Original Poster) of the thread is the one that updates it, so it pretty much gets up there when it gets up there. I would give at least a week or two, and if your score is still not added, it is usually acceptable to PM the OP about it, as sometimes it is easy to not notice that a new score has been posted.

A screenshot being required is on a board-by-board basis, at the discretion of the person running the tables. As a general rule, though, they are usually only required if your score would place you fairly high (And then you may actually need to provide a replay of the run).

Hopefully this clears some things up. Nice start with your score by the way, beat me by 1m :)

Hello there,

I recently played -too much- DoDonPachi, and made very significant progress.

Neptas - 139,728,990 - A-L - 2-4 - 688

Video

I hope the video is enough, cause I didn't record .inp yet :p

I'm still making some training so that score may be outdated pretty soon anyway. If anyone has a nice and clear tutorial on recording inputs with ShmupMame, I would be greatly interested also!
