Re: Axelay
Nice one.
I'm also going to come back to Axelay very soon as I don't have enough time these days for complex bullet hell or score shooters whatsoever. The Axelay 3-ALL shouldn't last too long on the other hand.

Re: Axelay
Totally!
Congrats though for the Clear, unfortunately you missed the top spot by only 120 points!
But how in the world did you No Miss that last loop? Incredible feat!

Re: Axelay
Finally got to finish the 3rd loop, in true 60 Hz fashion and all...
Too bad I couldn't get a little closer to the top scores, but hey, really happy with this.
Normal

Thanks guys, and go for it, Carmen!

Yep, too bad... they should have put that phrase into the standard ending so that there wouldn't have been any excuses.CIT wrote:Axelay wrote:See you again at "Axelay 2"

Re: Axelay
Nice, congrats!
Wouldn't have expected you to play all the way through it (not because of skill but I thought you don't like the game enough to care for the ALL).
The last loop is indeed very exciting. I had lots of harsh Game Overs (especially in stage 4 and 6) before it all turned out surprisingly well in my own Allclear run.

Re: Axelay
I just cleared this game starting on hard and clearing both loops. I think starting on normal is a bit too easy, plus the time I did play through on normal the game fucking crashed on the stage 3-1 boss, so I decided to play on hard instead from then on.
pegboy - 1,610,700 - ALL - Hard
Unfortunately this game also has a broken scoring system (like almost every SNES shmup), the final boss can be milked indefinately. It's not foolproof, but you can amass a rediculous number of points if you spend the time on it. I probably farmed around 100K extra points for around 10 minutes, but could have easily continued for much, much longer as I had a ton of extra lives left.
Anyway, I will post the video when it's uploaded.

Re: Axelay
Not really a high score update, but after six+ years I've finally picked this game up again!

Man I am blown away by the graphical detail in the game, like how the Axelay ship has different sprites for moving forward and backwards. Forgot how many setpieces occur in the last stage...

Normal

Perikles - 2,249,130 - ALL
Hard

Perikles - 1,511,340 - ALL
Didn't do much in the way of milking (at least not on purpose), I'm surprisingly maladroit/unlucky with it in this game in any case.
I will confess that I enjoy Axelay a fraction more every time I play it, it's still not among my favourite SFC shmups, but it is very much an essential part of the console's portfolio for me now.

Re: Axelay
I love this game like the most of us here. As a kid I never managed to achieve a playthrough on Hard Mode or higher. So this is my contribution to this Game:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPuGsP90oHA
As a Masterpiece of a game it deserves a well made and beatifully played speedrun.
Here I show Axelay's skills on highest difficulty (Very Hard Mode) which leads to the best ending (never seen before).
I hope you like it and share it with your friends.
Thanks for watching
-------------------------------------------------------
My highest Score in the first Level was 57460 which barely overtakes the set score of 57300 (I wanted to now if its beatable and indeed it is, but on very High Difficulty because, there are much more Enemies around)
My highest score in a sigle Playthrough is 784570 (also played on very High Hard Mode)
And my total Highest Score (which I know of) is 1573000. In theory (if you play all 4 modes after oneanother a totalscore of over 2000000 (2 million) should be possible wothout Score Farming.
What is your Max Score?
