It's cool to hate CoD and BF now, but that's short sighted because the games are still good. Just think of it as revisions and map packs. Would you want to play the same 16 maps for half a decade? No.
Bad excuse. It's easy to make map packs that are actual MAP PACKS and not as 60 dollar games. While they may be fun for a time, those games are basically glorified marketting schemes.
But they did this. When I bought CoD 4 (edit: excuse me, MW2, not CoD4) long after release, there was some DLC rolled into the price.

I don't hate them, but I find a few of them annoyingly overexposed. I also have a bad taste in my mouth about the typical FPS fan, but I could say the same for shmups & a few other genres. I think when one has an ego about video games they have missed out on a very important aspect of being alive on this Earth. That's not too say I don't take games seriously, but that dedication should never outweigh my ability to have fun. I know plenty of people who would scoff if I were to mention how fun the new Mario Kart is. In fact, mentioning Nintendo at all can get you laughed at a lot around where I live, so I make sure to do it as much as possible. :)

Used to play COD around Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2, because a few friends were playing as well and we would get together and play online. Fun times... We were excellent at these games.

I don't play anymore. Zero. The games are the same, the crowd is the same. Feels like playing the patch.

Bought Ghosts, played 10 minutes, returned it. I did play some BF4 and remember having some fun, but it faded quickly... Below 40 hours pf play.

I'm back playing retro games, and I don't think I'll go back to modern gaming anytime soon. I play the odd game from time to time (last 2 were Bayonetta 2 and Dark Souls 2), but that's a drop in the ocean.
