How did Brianna Wu even become relevant to this topic?

She seems to be using this as an opportunity to get publicity. I've never heard of the person in my life, until she started whining about harassment.

I mean, granted, most gamers weren't too familiar with Zoe Quinn. But this Brianna person has just sort of come out of nowhere, and made a big deal of herself.

Is she the one who filmed herself getting catcalls or whatever the hell?

Googled.

Jesus Christ.

"The human cost of Gamergate"

Really??

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2 ... human-cost

^ If this isn't the most absurd alarmist article on the subject ever, the most pithy excuse for sensationalist journalism from a fairly well-respected news rag, I don't know what is.

"Brianna Wu doesn’t know when she can go home again. She can’t tell me where she is – doing so might not be safe."

"Understandably, it’s an accusation that Wu scoffs at. “I’d like to think I’m a respected developer in this field,” she says."

Who the fuck is she?

This is getting stupid. I've stood on the side of feminists and defended their right to speak and criticize, I've stood on the side of Quinn and made a point that women having sex with anyone is entirely their business and not that of the gaming nerd contingent to fuss over - but now we have women literally bandwagoning on the threat scenario and publicly declaring their victimisation - something I'll stick my neck out on and say appears to be purely for personal promotional publicity - it's getting to the point where this whole thing is becoming too stupid to be credible.

If men weren't misogynists before, it's going to get to the point where there's a certain amount of apathy generated by people like Brianna Wu and a general disrespect and division will occur between sexes engaged in the debacle.

Short story: The world is still full of fucking idiots, everyone shut the fuck up and play Super Famicom.

Welcome to SJWGG!

Journalists - white knighting and stumbling over themselves trying to be more offended and more morally correct than eachother.
Anita/Zoe/whatever - making sure people know just how endangered they are "I can't go to my home because some 14 year old in his parents basement said 'I WILL KILL U' on tumblr :/" (side note - they should just go to the police to report harassment and leave it there).
News journalists - sensationalism that writes itself. I mean, who wouldn't?
The world is still full of fucking idiots, everyone shut the fuck up and play Super Famicom.
And now you've escaped from the rabbit hole. Welcome. We also have pizza.

Well, she's not a biological woman. So, hopefully it doesn't cause too much of a rift. :P

From what I understand, she/he used to be John Walker Flynt.

I'm trying to find more confirmation on that, but I thought it was kind of known that Brianna was a transsexual.

The more you know!

So, it makes it a bit more amusing when she talks about women's persecution. At least Anita is a biological woman.

EDIT: Here's a vid discussing it. It has links below it that show why most people think that.

So she's a transsexual attention seeking free publicity by putting herself up as a victim of sexism in a scandal that isn't really a scandal to bolster the fact that now she's a woman she can be persecuted as woman equal to other women who are perhaps legitimately persecuted for their gender, even though biologically she was born a man.

Positively shocking.

It might be of interest to know that in other parts of the world, those not encompassing white people's first world problems, no one knows or gives a flying fuck about gamergate. I'm sure they'd have a good laugh at it's expense, though.

Most of the big 3 of Anti-GG seem to fit that description a bit.

She's like, somebody who came out of nowhere, and shouldn't even be in the discussion. And she started getting "hate", when she first put out tweets mocking GamerGate. So, inviting the trolls.

Anita is probably a con artist, but she should be allowed to say whatever she wants. But she does play the victim a bit. I was just saddened that so many "gamers" took
her critiques seriously.

And Zoe....well, she was someone who slept around to get some attention for her work. Or she was just sleeping around. I don't care. And I would love to move past all 3 of these.
Also, I saw her nudes, and....just imagine the mighty power you could have with game journalists, if you actually looked good!
It doesn't take much, obviously.

I would be surprised if they knew about it. They seem to have their own problems going on. War, radical Islam, not being able to breathe because of all the pollution(China). I'll take GG problems any day!
First world problems FTW

After the SFC mention I was going to make some offhand comment about these no-game chumps likely being too busy whacking off to so much as boot a ROM, but I thought it was a pointless cheap shot and I was busy figuring out a checkpoint restart strategy for Soleiyu Belmont. Now having braved the harrowing last stages of Bionic Commando GB only to see this, I wish I had! Always listen to your instinct. Image

I like how so many video game journalists aren't even good enough to be decent forum posters lol.

But yeah, he's obviously just pissy that he lost his job. His rant is nothing but a flagrant display of immaturity and scapegoating of his own personal first world problems under the guise of fighting for justice and equality. Hard not to read this and think the guy is anything other than a baby, regardless of your stance on the issue. His parents should have raised him better.

Comments like this certainly aren't helping your argument that it's not really about sexism. This is the kind of shit that makes the gaming community look bad.

Does it make me a bad person for noticing things about Anita Sarkeesian's appearance?

Specifically that she does her tropes videos with her hair pulled back in a tight bun and wearing shapeless lesbian flannels or hoodies to show she's not defined by her appearance...

...yet her eyebrows are carefully plucked, revealing the whole thing to be a silly costume that she probably casts off the moment the camera stops rolling.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

She showed up all perked up on the Colbert Report too.

Yeah, I can't really get behind this. Anita's Croydon facelift and chav-hoops have no real bearing on the issue. Neither does Zoe's dainty little shaved tuppence.

I have yet to know, or hear about, any woman who wears their hair in a tight bun and is also fun to be with.

OK...second quote, I'm OK with. First quote...eh....Disgusting and sexist? That I said a girl didn't look good?
I can understand that "it's not making us look good", but "disgusting" and "sexist"? Eh well.
I could argue that it's that kind of overreaction that makes SJWs such a difficult group to work with.

But this is a small forum. I thought I could say something like that, and not have the internet brow beat me to death.
And it was just "irreverent humor".

A woman's worth is not based on her appearance. I know.

At this point I can't take anything that comes out of gaf seriously:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=943390
Was there implied rape in Bayonetta 1 and 2? *spoilers* #1
...at least, I'm having a difficult time seeing that attack Rodin does in both games as not rape considering the two are fighting and Bayonetta's kinda laying there with her back turned to the camera, which is probably the most vulnerable I've ever seen the character in either game.

I did a basic search for "bayonetta rape' but no threads, so I went and made this one. Gotta say I feel uncomfortable and kinda disgusted that two games I enjoyed to death have such content in it all tucked away in a secret boss fight.

Here's the video of it from the first game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6e1H8M8cgg

Here's a gif of it in the second game. I'd rather not embed it due to content: http://gfycat.com/SoreGiantBubblefish

I feel conflicted about this, and I'm disappointed ultimately. I don't see how either of these were seen as good ideas to have in the games.
