Micomsoft XCAPTURE-MINI

Post by Shou »

Appears that there isn't a thread yet for this. It's a capture unit like the Elgato which does 720p/60f and 1080p/30f in mp4 and still images in jpeg. It uses a maximum of 32GB SD cards.

Here's their shop link.

I got one of the early units and am using an HDCP stripper; the images and movie quality are very high.

When using the Framemeister with games that change resolution frequently like Thunder Force V Saturn, the capture will stop during the resolution change which is very annoying and nigh unusable.

Here's a sample capture at 720p/60

Do you have an Elgato HD to do some side by side comparisons? From the specs the XCAPTURE-mini doesn't sound all that interesting.

Not yet, neither really interest me since they can't do HD Audio capture.

Does this thing do anything that an Avermedia LGP doesn't? The XCAPTURE-1 has a number of uncommon features that can justify the premium price tag, but this thing looks like it's competing in an already crowded league.

I thought this to but it's actually not the case. Speaking virtually only for Japanese residents, they are filling a niche for people who are on budgets and don't have much income. Similar products like the Elgato are much more expensive (25,000 Yen on Amazon.jp) compared to the 18,000 of this device. Sure the LGP is the same price as the Mini on Amazon but with the Mini you get direct technical support from Micomsoft. This product would be lost in a sea of external USB HDMI solutions if it was anywhere else in the world, IMO.

Now that some time has passed, does anyone have any experience using one of these? Does the convenience of not having to use a PC justify the price? I am looking for something simple that can take direct snapshots and record footage.
