Nope. I think my Nintendo ID is iconoclastNKA if anyone wants to add me. I haven't even tried the co-op missions though since I've been working on a pure platinum run of 3rd Climax.

I played through it in one sitting, as well.

There's some things I like less about it, than the first one though. I wish it had more puzzles, or obstacles. Things like that.

But it's crazy fun, and just so over the top. It's a great sequel, so I'm not going to nitpick it to death.

Oh, and to chime in on the NG 1 vs 2... I think 1 is the better game, but 2 is more fun. I like the variety in 1, but the second one isn't so punishing, and just has great action. But I think 1 is more "full". And the camera is pretty awful in 2, as well. Not like it was good in 1, but it's worse in the sequel.

Two of my friends who have played (and own) the first one, never played it much at all. But they both loved 2, and called it a "blast".

A bit late, but as you've let me out the gate!...

I bloody adored it. The combat was superb, particularly it's depth and capacity for skill (not that I've met all of that capacity yet!). The setting and tone was just distinct enough from the first game to feel fresh, but gave me what I wanted in terms of setting and character, and the level design was superb. There was a moment two-thirds of the way in when I thought it had settled down a little too much and got too comfortable, but just as that crossed my mind that fleeting lull revealed itself as a moment of calm to contrast a wonderful pick up in pace as the game built to the end.

Brilliant design flourishes, glorious balancing of hammy and stylish, and constantly exciting and rewarding.

Almost made me think 3D games might be alright. (I'm kidding; I like a good few more 3D games. Maybe upwards of four!)

Despite its improvements, it still doesn't dethrone DMC1 as king of the "stylish action" genre. Combat is too automated, and the roll dodge -> Witch Time is way too much of a mindless get out of jail free card. It's not fun or interesting to have "press ZR" as the sole solution to avoiding every enemy attack in the game - there should have been certain moves that would force you to manually run and jump out of the way, like the "yellow flash" attacks in Revengeance. It looks especially ridiculous in the gimmick variety segments, where dodging enables you to pass right through environmental hazards like boulders and stone pillars. Infinity Climax takes away your Witch Time (unless you equip a certain accessory), but it's clear that the combat was designed with it in mind, and it feels broken as a result.

You still have witch time in Infinite Climax in Bayo 2. They only took it away in the original game. It works for Bayo 2 because enemies are generally more aggressive and can now defend themselves with their parry ability. Now you have to rely on witch time to create an opening on the mid-size enemies (giants still can't parry IIRC).

Giants can't parry, but they can still grab you.

No witch time in Infinite Climax in the original was pretty stingy. It made items like the Evil Rosary way more powerful because the drawback of it is that it disables witch time .. which you don't even have anymore.

This is what I liked about Bayonetta 2, the no racking your brains, straight to fighting approach (which is great).

Depends on how much you like 3D action games. If you like them, it's a must-buy. If not, maybe the other offerings on the system will convince you it's worth it ..

Yeah, I have a laundry list of annoyances with the original Bayonetta that were all fixed or removed in Bayonetta 2. Putting literal walls in the player's face? Bad form, game. Insta-death QTEs can jump 10,000 feet up my ass, too. Especially when they completely ruin a good run.

I got Bayonetta for the 360 last christmas, but never played it beyond the second level. However since I got the first game again as a pack in with Bayonetta 2, I decided to beat it before going for the sequel; I ended up playing the first 14 chapters over the course of a weekend, and I just finished the 15th. I'll probably be finishing it up the next time I have 2 hours to kill so I can move on to the sequel.

So far I'm really doing terrible, with tons of deaths every chapter and stone trophies galore
I've never been very good at 3d games.

I would never recommend buying a system for one game. But it's pretty great.

I wouldn't buy it solely for Bayo 2, but there's also Wonderful 101 and Itagaki's next game (I guess someone's still looking forward to that one, right?), as well as Bayo 1, of course. The console is fairly cheap right now and is only getting cheaper, so it'll definitely be worth picking up eventually, if not now.

Wii U had the best year of any console this year. Bayonetta 2 is amazing and definitely worth buying the console for but there's also a lot more on offer worth playing.

Similarly, while I'd hesitate to recommend the Wii U solely for Bayonetta 2, there's a decent software library on there now to make the purchase worthwhile. For me the Mario titles and Bayonetta 2 are enough.

When it comes to entertainment products... If you have to ask then no.

No point in wasting money on stuff you're not sure you want.

I bought a 360 for a few shmups and nothing else. Buying a Wii U for Bayo2 is probably a far more reasonable investment.

And of course there's tons of other great stuff on the console too.

Buying it for one game is better than buying it for nothing, really, which is why I bought mine in the first place.

Pretty happy I did, though, now that games I care about are coming out.

I plan on getting one eventually for Smash Bros, but now stuff like Bayonetta 2 is out and there's prospects of seeing Pinball Arcade on it there's definitely reasons to get one.

Also, the Wii Mode is moddable for homebrew which is a plus for me. :)

The region locking on the Wii-U hasn't been broken yet has it?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Actually, Nintendo has been thinking about unlocking it themselves. Nothing concrete, but that's a massive step forward for them.

I didn't even know the Wii U was region locked!

I found myself here because I'll be picking up a Wii U for Smash Bros this weekend.

I already picked up a few games on sale already. Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World and New Super Mario Bros Wii U.
Possibly Mario Kart 8 (If it isn't already included in the Delux Bundle) Pikmin 3 and Bayonetta 2

Any other games worth getting?

Did he say that in reference to the Wii U only, or the 3DS as well? Or was it unclear?

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is one of the best 2D platformers of this generation, definitely pick that one up.

Hyrule Warriors is kindof fun if you like Zelda and/or mindless button mashing, but Bayonetta 2 blows it out of the water, so it's not really worth it anymore.

ZombiU is a launch game that seems like it's good if you like hardcore survival horror games (emphasis on survival).

I was really on the fence with Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze but I'll look into that one again then. I did have a few of my personal friends recommend it so its worth a shot I guess :)

Hyrule Warriors is probably a game I'm not going to be really into. I never liked any of the Warrior games so I'm pretty sure I won't like HW. If its on sale or of I can find it for cheap I'll give it as hot but most likely not on my list of games to get.

Oh... Wonderful 101 is another game I've been eyeying.... I may check that out as well.

Do pick it up, it's an excellent game that's quite challenging if you don't decide to go for secrets.
