I just built up a XP-based dumping rig using Omniflop. I have dumped Phalanx, Parodius, and a few others with no problems. However, I can't get the drive to read a Undeadline demo disk, the sole reason I built this setup. When inserting most games, the drive will spin up briefly then stop. Upon starting the read via Omniflop the drive once again spins up and reading begins.
When I try to dump the demo disk, the drive spins up upon insertion. However, it acts like it never tries to read as it never spins up. Obviously, Omniflop errors out. I can manually rotate the platter inside the disk.
The disk itself has light waves around the center hole as well as slight track marks (I assume from the drive grinding on it). Unfortunately, it looks like X68k discs don't have a reinforcing ring.
Any ideas? This thing hasn't been dumped before and I would really like to find out exactly what is on it.

Can't help you with omniflop, but I do all my dumping on my actual X68000. Fast, easy, and way higher success rate. Your dump could be failing for a variety of reasons. Such as copy-protection, or an exotic format. People generally assume X68000 games are all 2HD formatted disks. This is untrue, many games use 9 sector formats such as 2HDE and 2HS....

Hmmm...
When I get back to work I'll try dumping one of my copies of the full Undeadline. The assumption being that the demo disk should have a lesser chance of copy protection than the full game. If the full game dumps correctly, well... Some games have errored out of omniflop, which I assume means they're either damaged or copy protected. This one doesn't even try.
Honestly, it looks like the disk isn't being properly held by the cone-shaped clamp in the center. I have no idea why, as the dimensions are no different that any other disk I've dumped. Come to think of it, closing the lever on the drive was slightly more difficult on this one as well.

Re: X68000 dumping issues.
As it turns out, it was due to a misalignment within the drive. The problem was eating at me so I went back and gave it another go. For posterity I dumped the game three different ways.
The disk is pretty much what I expected. Something to put on loop in a shop to promote the upcoming game. It shows an exceptionally poor player going through a level on easy as Leon then the Wizard who's name I cannot remember. Pretty much a PC version of an attract mode.
For anyone who cares I'll post the rom shortly.

Good stuff, glad to hear you're doing it. (I really should buckle down and do the same for my own stuff - so I finally get some use out of my old X68000 disks while I wait to get a real system working / delivered.)
