I have one and I own Mario 3D World, DK Tropical Cheese, Hyrule Warriors, and New Super Mario Bros U + Luigi. The last one came with the system so I figured why not.

Off topic a bit, but damn..have you seen the reviews of Legend of Korra? Funny how it got a 3 and Bayonetta 2 got a 10 from Gamespot. That's got to be some kind of thing...two games from the same company in the same week, with that kind of gap.

I played LoK. It wasn't very good. It's not a 3 though. 5 maybe. It's just Platinum by the numbers. All their games have some "zing". This has none of that. It's just...there.
And after playing the Bayonetta 2 demo, it's obvious they didn't have time and/or didn't care much about LoK.

I hope people stop making the comparisons to that review to the review of God Hand. The God Hand review was nuts, because it's much much better than that. LoK isn't much better. It's not memorable, in the slightest. Platinum's weakest game, by far.

The Bayonetta 2 demo was great. Too bad it's timed. What a dumb practice.

Just saw a Bayonetta 2 youtube ad. "Includes Bayonetta 1 AND Bayonetta 2." Great ad, good voice over guy. 15 seconds, no bullshitting, made it look really appealing.

Yes, please try to keep your thoughts. My heart already jumped from the first sentence
Then I shall say nothing more! I had only 200 words to review it (for a UK national paper, The Observer, so word counts are tiny). It was a fun writing challenge, but damn, I'd love more words. In this Sunday's paper/online the same day if anyone cares).

So, once the game's out and Cagar's had a go, I'll bang on about it here.

All I'll say for now is this. The first Bayonetta is one of my favourite 3D action games ever.

Anyone else hyped?

I tried the demo and thought that it sucked;
But the music rocks, it has great reviews, and Bayonetta is hot.. so I'm still going to buy it
It's been a long time since I bought a new expensive game, so I'm also doing it for a change. =)
I am - the original bayonetta is my favorite hack-n-slash/action game of all time haha, and before that it was DMC3
I loved the shit outa the demo... tho I've only played it twice and can't get past a gold ranking ._.

probably won't be able to buy it until next Friday (payday) unfortunately.

Has anyone tried Ice Cream Surfer? It looks pretty fun and it's cheap. I'm hoping it ended up being better than GaiaBreaker apparently is.

I got the PC version of it a little ways back, but it doesn't run right on my laptop so I can't comment much on it. I recall liking the game's cute-em-up atmosphere, but also remember the characters being kinda unbalanced...take all that with a grain of salt (or sprinkles?) though.

Okay Bayonetta 2 is easily the best action game that I've ever played.

Aside from some questionable underwater segments, it's a gigantic improvement over the original Bayonetta in every way.

Jesus I wish they'd start selling GC games on their VC soon >:| - it seems they're definitely heading that way for the 3DS so please, please do it for the Wii U soon. I know it's much maligned, but I'd love to play Super Mario Sunshine over HDMI :o.

I'm seeing a lot of rave reviews of Bayonetta 2.

Are the reviews generally higher because it stands out more on the meager Wii U library?
Would this have received the same enthusiastic reviews had it been released on all the major console formats?
What exactly makes it so good in comparison to other games of its type?

The Wii U most likely can't handle GC emulation, and it can only handle Wii games because the hardware is specialized for it. You'd be better off hoping for more HD ports like the one Wind Waker got.

Bayonetta 2 isn't as good as DMC1 or Ninja Gaiden Black, and it still wears its misguided cinematic aspirations on its sleeve, but it's probably tied with Vanquish for being Platinum's best game to date. It wouldn't have reviewed as well if it was a multiplatform release, simply because a lot of critics are nostalgic fanboys eager to defend Nintendo's business interests, and that tends to cancel out the negativity that arises from this genre of game not being popular or well understood anymore.

I've played through 3rd Climax twice so far. I still think I'm missing some collectibles, so I'll probably clean that up before doing Infinite Climax. Right now I don't think the first game does a single thing better than this one (or nothing important, at least). They even made the Alfheims bearable by getting rid of the shitty gimmick missions and instead having almost all of them be some type of variation of "kill everything". I can't really think of anything to complain about.

Seems like it could give Ninja Gaiden II a run for its money as the best action game ever. I'll have to play it for a couple hundred more hours to see if it holds up, tho.

Ninja Gaiden II, best action game ever? That's an unusual opinion. I can think of quite a few ways it regressed from Black, especially the boss fights.

Wii is essentially just an overclocked GC. If WiiU can do Wii back-compat, it can do GC back-compat with a bit of work.

There's a mod that allows you to play GC games on the Wii U. I'm guessing Nintendo took GC compatibility out because they have plans to sell GC games via VC and also because backwards compatibility with GC isn't much of a selling point.

It's getting reviews exactly in line with the original Bayonetta, which was multiplatform - 2 is also widely considered the better game, so ...
Also, the Wii U library is vastly better than the other current gen consoles (of course it should be ... it has been out longer).
Don't be dopey.

Shows how little I've kept up with developments in the Wii U hacking/homebrew scene. I guess we won't see a concerted effort from Nintendo to stop it via firmware updates until people figure out how to pirate commercial U games.

There are few GC games worth doing, with Wind Waker up-ported and most everything else already on Wii like Prime Trilogy, Pikmin, Resident Evil etc. But I would like Wave Race Blue Storm and F-Zero GX. Wouldn't rights disputes keep stuff like Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7 off the table?

The combat is faster, harder, more complex, and more varied than Black, and they excised all of the tedious adventure elements from the level design, transforming it from a an action/adventure game to pure action. Then there are the survival missions in Mission Mode, which have an arcade-like structure and the best scoring system the genre's ever seen. Most of the boss fights are pretty shitty, though, aside from the Greater Fiends.

No? Capcom is releasing Demon's Crest on VC this month. They wholly own VJ and K7.

Very good to know. Someday I'd like to sit and figure out K7.

I thought of more good candidates as soon as I posted that really, like the Super Monkey Ball games before that series started to suck. I'm sure Ikaruga would have some demand too!
